Rachel tonight. Fascinating.

The convoluted machinations that led to the Cohen subpoena of months ago.

Cohen was served with a new subpoena today...as a witness in New York's investigation or action against Trump's charitable organization. The NY AG, Barbara Underwood, filed a CIVIL lawsuit against the charity that was long, detailed, and actually included evidence (like images of notes) embedded in the petition, months ago.

She then sent that petition to the IRS, New York's tax dept., and another NY dept. I think it was NY tax dept that then subpoenaed Cohen today as a witness.

Fascinating programs. Rachel is excellent at connecting the dots and run down the timelines & give background.

You can't make this stuff up.

I'm sure Trump's father is the one who taught him the slippery ropes of the dark side of NY real estate. Roy Cohn, Trump's mob-connected & McCarthy-assistant mentor, completed the job. This is why Trump operates like a mob boss. He has "the family." Mob bosses always involve their grown kids in "the family business."

I'm not sure Ivanka is involved, though.

Remember that? I think when Trump was asked about the payment, and Trump said he didn't know anything...you have to ask Michael Cohen. Boom. Trump was clearly going to blame Cohen for everything.

That, coupled with the huge legal fees that Cohen couldn't pay, and Trump would not help him with...that turned the guy who would take a bullet into a John Dean.

How could ANYONE not know that loyalty for Trump is a one way street? I guess it's natural for people to think they are the exception to the rule. Well, they are not. Trump is a corrupt, disloyal, unethical POS. He never takes the blame or the fall. That is who he is.

It reminds me of my History classes in college (I went back as a full time working adult so school was really important and something I very much wanted to do). The History professor I had for two semesters was amazing! He was the best teacher I've ever had, and I've had some great teachers. The courts & juries have no problems finding guilt of rich and/or connected people for white collar crimes, and esp for crimes affecting our democracy or smack of treason.

Madoff, Ehrlichman, John Dean, and many others. But knowing something happened and proving it are 2 different things. Need hard core evidence. However, as someone on Rachel's show said, it's not hard to get evidence of white collar crimes, because there are documents involved (unlike murder and such).
