How we get no Kavanaugh vote.

U.S. Senate: Rules and Procedure
https://www.senate.gov/reference/reference_index.../Rules_and_Procedure_vrd.htm
Article I, section 5 of the Constitution requires that a quorum (51 senators) be present for the Senate to conduct business. Often, fewer than 51 senators are present on the floor, but the Senate presumes a quorum unless a roll call vote or quorum call suggests otherwise.

Quorum Requirements in the Senate: Committee and ... - Senate.gov
https://www.senate.gov/CRSpubs/afc83682-d9c8-4f34-a732-3f7a5883cca1.pdf
Jun 8, 2017 - The Senate usually requires that the request for a roll-call vote must be supported by at least one-fifth of the smallest possible quorum. Consequently, at least 11 Senators—one-fifth of the minimum quorum of 51 Senators—must raise their hands to support a request for a roll-call vote.

Is there any way Dems can work with this to prevent enough there to continue?

McCain is not there, so they are a man short already

I do believe there is a rule allowing the Sergeant at Arms to round up Senators and force them to come, but first he would have to find them.

No quorum, no vote.

However.....it has happened in the past that U.S. Marshals were sent to bring the missing Senators to the chamber for the vote.

Whos going to convict them? Whats more important? Objecting to every thing someone raises that we can do, or DOING what we can do and seeing how the chips fall? Newsflash, if we don't do something drastic, this country is gone...and that is no exaggeration. One one voting cycle and it's in the bag for the alt. right. They PRAY we are going to play by the rules while they cheat out in the open. No more fighting w an arm tied behind our backs. The world is behind the Democratic Party.
Another 5 years and China and russia will have military bases on the Yucatan...that's when the heartache really begins, and probably will be our end. (violently) I have family I want to see live long lives.
The Tea PArty was a drastic response back then, and now it's history. Let's make history instead of being pu****s? (s'cuse the French but I'm beyond tired of the second guessers and nay'sayers to ANY answers we come up with.) We don't have infinite chances as if it were the 70s (or whatever) Were reaching the final count-down.

... then they only need 40 Republicans for a quorum.

There is no path here to block Kavanaugh. We still need two Republican senators to change their mind on him and vote "no".

Get lost Senators. Take somebody with you. Youre welcome to stay here for a few days/weeks. This is what Senate Staffers need to be doing, reviewing the rules.

Over the following decades, the Senate occasionally directed its sergeant at arms to arrest members. But the first openly physical act of compulsion did not occur until 1988. On February 24, 1988, in an attempt to establish a quorum on a campaign finance reform bill, Capitol police carried Oregon Republican Senator Robert Packwood into the chamber feet first at 1:17 a.m.

Because the 11 Democrats who voted to support the roll call vote would be compelled to remain in the Senate chamber and.......Voila!.......there's your quorum. Then they could proceed with the unanimous consent vote.

Why waste all your political "talent" here in DU? You should be a professors professor. Maybe lecture to Robert Reich and those dummies. Im SURE theyd love to hear you burn everything they say down. Right on cue.

But I'm not going to waste my energy hoping for things that can't possibly accomplish what they want.

Pipe dream all you want and fall for every desperate "plan" that comes down the pike, but don't expect everyone else to indulge your pie in the sky schemes or to decline to explain why they won't work in the real world.

Do let us all know how that one works out, OK?

By the way.......which part of what I said do you think is untrue?

…….is what you want is to have people lie to you and tell you that things that have no prayer of success will bring about the result you want? I mean, really? Because you don't seem to be that shallow or delusional to me.
