I've replied this many times on Twitter in Russian

When I suspect Russians.

Вам платят по часам, или за твит?

(Do you get paid by the clock, or by a tweet?)

Thank you to whomever gave the idea to me.

It shuts them the fuck up.

Clue to belong a paid Russian troll are very few followers, sports posts, and other fake shit.

It's a cyber war out here.

You are correct, it either pisses the off or they shut up.

Very effective.

Take this path: Start-programs-accessories-character map. That's where all sorts of European punctuation is, along with symbols for writing Greek, Russian, Serbian and several Semitic languages.

Or just tap "character map" into search. At least with windows, it's on there. On an iPhone, just hit the little globe ("ABC" when the emojis pop up) down to the left until the Russian language keyboard shows up. Совсем не трудно (not at all difficult)!

It’s a kick to whack ‘em in Cyrillic. The Washington Post is wide open in their comments, so you can “fire for effect,” so to speak!

Also, when right wingers post in Republicanese (using an apostrophe to form a plural, etc.), I tell them welcome to the USA, and that since they are obviously new immigrants who never went to school here, I am glad to help them by pointing out that English does not use an apostrophe to form a plural. If they get pissy, I point out that they gave themselves away because there is not one school in the entire English-speaking world that teaches using an apostrophe to form a plural, and they should accept that there is no shame in admitting the obvious--that they are recent immigrants whose English is far from perfect. I can't say "immigrants from Mexico," since Spanish doesn't use an apostrophe to form a plural, either (although I guess the likelihood of a Republican troll actually knowing that is probably close to zero).

The fun thing about the Post is that it is read by all sorts of State and Defense people, many of whom understand Russian, and give you numerous likes when you zap trolls in Russian.

Swatting 'em with proper grammar. I like that -- I may give that one a spin myself.

I never engaged in these exchanges until Obama was subjected to such overtly racist treatment by American citizens. It may not change anything, but at least swinging back with the written word: 1) Lets them know that there are many Democrats/progressives who are NOT pushovers, and are onto them, and have had it up to the eyeballs with their lunacy; and 2) it offers up a bit of a therapeutic effect, like a pressure-relief valve.

Happy hunting!
