and its just kinda how Im feeling about these two very famous people. One white and one black. Yikes.....whos going to do this, the difference AND THE SAMENESS of these two icons. Aretha Franklin, John McCain......Black and White. I just cant talk about what today really means. Anyone??? and how can we discuss it as a national idea. Black, the common folk, the Stars and Famous, The White, politicians and racists......and can I say that???

(115,676 posts)Most of the people who loved Aretha probably aren't Trump supporters anyhow, and there was a fair amount of kicking of Trump's ample ass by several of the speakers. And anyhow, she was black, you know. And the Clintons were there. If Trumpers didn't like Aretha before they sure won't like her or her fans now.
The Trumpers mostly hated McCain already because he was critical of Trump and was known occasionally to have worked with Democrats. The most we might be able to hope for is that maybe a few GOPers might stop to think about whether they want to be remembered like McCain or like Trump, though I'm not holding my breath even as to that. I don't think much will change.
