They could hardly speak his name without a shudder. Who could ever have believed we'd live to see FOUR worse presidents than Hoover? Reagan, Nixon, W. Bush, and the current monster who occupies the White House. Of the entire rogues' gallery, only Eisenhower and maybe Ford were decent people. Nevertheless, I had to vote for tRump, because he's in a class by himself of loathsomeness.

10. Trump, worst president since the civil war.......

I was tempted to pick Reagan but he was half asleep most of his Presidency. Nancy was his godsend and he was effective because he was micro-managed. It shouldn't be ignored that he was very popular. He won a convincing re-election. Because of his acting chops, he could deliver anything written for him. He cut taxes which made conservatives giddy, the economy was solid, and he was "likeable". Republicans also controlled the narrative about him so their shouts about how great he was drowned out the uglier, criminal realities of his administration.

Reagan also personified the Trifecta of Conservatism: Neoliberalism, Evangelicalism and White Supremacy which is why he is the God of the Republican Party ........because these things are more important to Republicans than ending slavery.

The people who bang on about Republicans no longer being the "Party of Lincoln" are often Liberals trying to shame Republicans when Republicans have become shameless since 1965. They also seem to think Reagan wouldn't be delighted with an Oligarch Russian Leader who hates gays. So as much as Reagan put in motion a lot of crap, I can't deny his popularity and the effectiveness of all the propaganda about him.

Reagan's successor leaned more towards an expansion of capitalism while the presidency of his son Bush Jr paved the way for Dominionism. The lies and deception of Bush Jr's administration are so tremendous they will continue to shape the Middle East well into the 21st century yet I still can't call Bush Jr the worst President given the Conservative reaction to Obama's presidency..

Obama's presidency was the catalyst for Republicans to go full racist without pretense leading to Trump. They realized the only way to win was to double down on white anger and suppress votes.

And Trump is the result of all this. He is the embodiment of everything wrong with Conservatism. It's almost primal: Isolationism, Racism, Sexism, Dominionism.

I've also never seen a President so hated and reviled internationally as this one. He has so corrupted the Oval Office, the Teapot Dome scandal would barely make a blip in the current news cycle. He's also going to fuck up the economy and he's managed to achieve something I have never heard of in my life: A posthumous disinvite to the funeral of a member of his own party.
