Your party is a zombie. It has become a host for an evil cult of Russia supporters and the dupes and dopes that support the cult's leaders.
Lincoln and Reagan? Fugeddaboudit. Dead and gone.
You have a few choices, GOPeers.
First choice, every uninfected and "retired" elected (R) can run as an independent against every Trumper. Cut into their support and let the Democrat win. KILL THE ZOMBIE. Then come back in a few years and run on a level field in a fair election against the Democrat and reclaim the Republican Party.
Second choice, start a new party with sane right of center people. Do as above, but under your new flag from the start. The branding of the new party will be a bigger lift than simply performing the exorcism of the Trumpers from the Zombie body, but the net result will be the same.
I am a proud liberal. I won't change. But I welcome - encourage - an opposition party. Dems are less prone to becoming a Zombie, but it absolutely can happen to our side, too. Two sound, honest, country-loving political parties would be a good thing.
We NEED to disagree. We NEED debate. We NEED our ideas challenged.
But no one wins when the political differences devolve to their current state.
Democrats can't fix the Zombie party. Only those who escaped it can. We Dems can encourage you, lend more support, if that helps. But this fight is yours.
We welcome your victory. What we have now will harm us all.
