(12,344 posts)Human beings can be nasty, sick fucks. It is a part of who we are. Why do we equate "humanity" with "goodness?" The history of our species does not support that equation. Denying the humanity of someone we despise is just a way of cutting off the parts of ourselves we don't like.

(7,596 posts)Garbage humans are still humans. Our species has produced a lot of truly beautiful individuals who did wonderful things. We've also produced a lot of trash who did the exact opposite. If we point to the best representatives of our species as evidence of our worth, we also have to bear the shame of the worst representatives who give strength to the argument that things might have been better off for our planet had we gone extinct long ago.
