25th Amendment NOW

The past two days we've been treated to Trump's unbridled, paranoid, aggrieved id. He's gone after Google, CNN, NBC, and various other malefactors he blames for not recognizing his genius.

It's truly something to behold. One usually doesn't see such a performance outside of the purview of a cinematic or television treatment of a madman dictator losing what little grasp of reality he or she has left. We're entering Shakespeare's territory, with visions of ghosts and bloody daggers and intimations of impending doom.

Trump has finally realized that the subterfuges and flim-flammeries he usually employed as a mobbed up "real estate developer" in Queens to avoid scrutiny or accountability don't work in the world of power politics. For all of our failings, we're not a banana republic, and he has brought us no closer to being one. In fact, his actions have mobilized the state and societal institutions which were designed as a check on a person like Trump. And thus, he's going full scorched earth, calling into question those institutions, questioning their legitimacy, painting himself as victim of some grand guignol conspiracy to stifle his greatness.

If his behavior of the past two days—not to mention of the past two years—is not reason enough to resort to the mechanisms of the 25th Amendment to remove an obviously mentally incapacitated chief executive, I don't know what would qualify. Each tweet is more deranged, more paranoid than the previous one. What we're seeing is a psychotic break live on social media. If Trump were still a louche game show host, we'd be laughing. He has the nuclear codes; this is no laughing matter.

My favorite phrase in the article: "His supine sycophants".

Thelma Harper runs for mayor against a stereotypical disingenuous incumbent politician, winning mostly because of a populist message and witty comebacks. Once she takes office, the city government becomes a shambles, because when it comes to governing a city, Thelma doesn't know her ass from a hole in the ground. On the verge of being tarred and feathered, she relinquishes control to the previous mayor and returns to her bickering, selfish family.

The sooner Trump just gives up the gavel, the better. Take a queue from Thelma, Donnie.

that would normally fail as well as pack courts with their own people.
Of course similar like minded people thought the same thing in Germany in the 1930s after a certain person rose to power and we all know how that ended.

The 25th amendment is meant to deal with a president who is incapacitated, not merely insane. If they tried this, Trump can contest it, in which case it would goto congress, requiring a 2/3 vote in both houses. Impeachment only requires a majority in the house, and doesn't require the majority of his cabinet and vp to start the process.
