I'm sorry, but Obama is so damn calm and collected and polite in his public behavior it is almost ridiculous. And I'd draw the distinction between being uncivil and causing offense. They CAN overlap, but they are not the same. Obama caused offense right and left, mostly by being a black guy who had the nerve to be more successful than all of his critics, and by pursuing political goals and public policies he thought were correct. Sorry, I'm sure he's not sorry. Civility/incivility is not about your state in the world or your very existence, but rather your interpersonal or public behavior/actions/words.

The most uncivil thing I recall Obama doing was saying the police "acted stupidly" during the arrest of Henry Louis Gates Jr in his own home. And given how the media and right wingers got the vapors over it, I'm sure it was damn uncivil indeed.
