Which Dem senators from red states

might vote for Kavanaugh? I seem to recall that Heitkamp, Donnally and Manchin could be traitors to the party but am I correct and are their others? I will be calling Collins and Murkowski, but is Flake flippable? I am getting my phone numbers and addresses ready to call and tell them what their vote will do to their constituents.

Besides, what kind of Democrat would want a right wing Justice in office for the next 30-40 years, actively working to overturn the laws and policies passed by the Democratic Party? It makes no sense if you really are a Democrat.

Especially if Democrats make a strong case against Kavanaugh, based in part on the fact that Republicans are withholding documentation that they must know would disqualify him. Democrats should be screaming that from the rooftops.

calling a senator (or congressman for that matter) from a state that they're not representing is a total waste of time. They only want to hear from constituents...

really do keep track of what you have to say on various issues. I told her what I have done for over a year and it works like a charm. I wish I had thought of it but someone at a rally gave me the idea...I go to Zillow for each individual senator's or congressman's district/state and get an address and zip code. I use my cell phone number since cell phone area codes can be from any state these days. Presto, I am a constituent.

I am calling them both but I need more names since I like to do them all at once...I get into a "mind set" and on a roll. Can you think of any others? What about Flake? Who else is a possible "No" vote?

He is the most endangered GOP incumbent senator. Polls show him actually a tad behind Jackie Rosen, his Dem opponent.

Dem incumbents have to take Dem enthusiasm into account in their political calculation now. They can't really afford to shuck off these voters by being republican-lite. Hayes showed a new poll last night that had 51% of voters saying they want a check on Trump.

But the bottomline is Rs made a faustian bargain to tolerate and support Trump in order to get more rw judges on the federal courts. Perhaps Murkowski is gettable since she actually won seat as an Independent write-in candidate, but the others, forget it.

My 2 Dem Senators will do the right thing. And my Dem Representative is someone who is going to win re-election by 50 points. So, I'm much more likely to call Senators and Representatives from other states or districts. If I call mine, it's mostly just to say "thanks."

Here's why: Confirming Kavanaugh is the only action which locks in the "steal" of the Scalia/Garland/Gorsuch seat. No GOP Senator will be willing to risk the reverse happening to Kennedy/Kavanaugh/??? (if Dems take the Senate).

If Kavanaugh goes down, the Senate could still get in a lame-duck confirmation before January, of course. But possibly not before the election. The nation's current anti-Trump sentiment would bleed extra-deep into the election if the SCOTUS nom was a prospective rather than retrospective issue. The ones up for re-election won't want that risk, the ones not up for re-election won't want that risk to affect their chances of keeping a majority, even just a 50 plus tiebreaker one.

Collins and Murkowski will vote yes because crossing party lines on a SCOTUS nominee will mean a lost primary next time. Flake and Corker will vote yes on their way out the door to lock in the hard-right SCOTUS majority for a decade or two regardless of subsequent POTUS terms. And all the rest of the GOP will vote yes because Kavanaugh isn't just Trump's nominee, he's the Heritage Foundation's and Federalist Society's joint wet dream.

and in favor of overturning roe v wade. Due to enormous publicity every person in America and many folks way outside our borders understand that confirming Kavanaugh will pretty much gurantee overturning roe v wade within 18 months. Unless those dem senators have deciding votes, they may need to vote in favor to get a shot of re-election. I wish we would have made Kavanaugh about issues other than abortion when conservative working class may overlap with our concerns. I even know dems who are anti-choice and female, I don’t know a single dem male who is not pro choice. There was a poll a while ago in which women were anti choice at higher rates than men. Go figure.
