Women Dressed as 'Handmaids' Stand in Protest Outside Kavanaugh Confirmation Hearing

by Caleb Howe | Sep 4th, 2018, 10:03 am

Protesters descended on the Capitol Tuesday morning ahead of the first day of confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Among the many groups, one in particular grabbed eyes and cameras, a Demand Justice organized protest featuring women dressed in garb from the fictional TV show “The Handmaid’s Tale.”

There were many tweets and a good deal of attention, which is the first goal of any protest.

There hasn’t been much footage of them on the news channels so far, but there will be.

I wish more Americans had read the book or seen the show than I imagine they have. Admittedly, I haven't watched the HBO show, though I have read the book. I know how dark and depressing it is and how close to our future it may be, if the Religious Right Taliban has its way.

These women should appear on every news show along with full discussion as to WHY.
