Couldn't watch The Apprentice because I just couldn't stomach him.

So yes I would have believed that his presidency would be a disaster.

The silence and complicity of Republicans in the legislative branch, no.

I think even many R voters voted for Trump fully informed that he was an idiot and not remotely up to the task of building an executive and running the country, but believing he'd be checked by Congress. Rs in Congress have completely abdicated their responsibility.
