"I spoke to Meghan about this. I think the invite came from Lindsey Graham," said new cohost Abby Huntsman, a longtime friend of McCain. "Look, I'm sure they (McCain family) had final approval of everything, if they had it their way -- as was evident in the tone of the funeral -- they probably would rather not have had anyone from the Trump family present. They still showed up.
Joy Behar thought it was good for them (Jared and Ivanka) to be there and hear everything being said. "Let them sit there, every single person who spoke had a subtext against Trump," she said, "they had to listen to that, so good."
Sunny Hostin , however, was on the complete opposite page. "I thought it was in poor taste that they showed up," she said. "I think that the family was very clear in who they wanted there. I'm not sure why Lindsey Graham extended the invitation." For what it's worth, Graham denied he was responsible ... "Who crashes a funeral? You just don't do that," Hostin added, incredulously. "I thought it was shameful that they were there. I really do."
Whoopi Goldberg also called Meghan's speech "extraordinary," before explaining why she regrettably missed the funeral. "I was not with them on Sunday because my plane didn't work and so it was one of the biggest devastations," she said. John and I, as crazy as this sounds, we were friends. We've been friends since we were little. I was so crazed that I missed that," she said, before saying she hopes that with his passing, people begin to "err towards the better parts of ourselves than the worst parts."

(8,380 posts)no matter how they got an invitation or whether or not they did. They understood what Trump has said about McCain and how McCain felt. What clueless, selfish clods they are to think they can disregard what the man and family wanted and show up.

(82,849 posts)So why don't we just say that they crashed the funeral? It's a pretty low class thing to do, and I'd guess that Ivanred (which I prefer to Jarvanka) would rather out the person who invited them than let stand the idea that they crashed a funeral.
