Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsAre there 2 Republican senators willing to stand up on this nomination & say NO
Two that are willing to admit the truth about Kavanaugh?
Two that are willing to risk their careers to save woman's rights to control their bodies?
Two that are willing to show that they care about a man whose child was killed by a gun?
Two that are willing to prevent Kavanaugh the liar from becoming a Justice on the Supreme Court
Two that are willing to stand up to McConnell?
Two that are willing to stand and protect the U.S.A instead of their party and Trump?
Two that are willing to care about the future of the U.S.A, ?
We will soon see if there are just 2 honest Republicans in the Senate.. Just 2?
Who are they?...or are there none?

(31,106 posts)We have to remember, by definition if you are a republican you arent capable for the most part of doing the right thing.
Just not a part of who you are.

(38,410 posts)but deep inside, I hope you are wrong..We will see soon..I don't know when the vote will be. Does anyone know when the vote will be?

(32,074 posts)But, I'm still waiting to see evidence of the contrary.
I heard that they are looking for a vote on the 13th, because they should only wait until after an election to vote on a Supreme Court judge if a Democrat makes the nomination.

(5,272 posts)Hopefully there's not a single democrat who votes for this man. I know we're getting him anyway, but that just chafes.
I feel like the Democrats should be drumming up the fact that its Republicans who are going to let this guy sail through...that NONE of them should be allowed to disavow themselves from future discovery that comes out on him, since they are the ones fast-tracking him. They don't get to use ignorance as their excuse, and they should be pummeled for it in future races if things come to light that make him look particularly draconian on choice, etc.
On the other hand, I guess that's the calculation. He probably won't attempt to overturn Roe Vs. Wade, so his opinion on these things won't bite these politicians in the ass once he's permanently installed on the bench. His votes on everything else will certainly bite the American people in the ass those. Fuck.

He will overturn Roe.
Women and men who care about women need to show up and vote every single fucking time and vote D even if it means holding their nose with both hands or we get what we don't vote for.

(37,748 posts)It's possible that Murkowski and Collins, coming from two regions that have strong negative polling data in regards to Kavanaugh, may actually split.
On the Democratic side though, it's even more possible that Donnelly, Heitkamp, Manchin and Nelson (McCaskill too?), feeling the mid-term threat in their own leaning districts, may flip as well.
From my hazy, misty and grimy crystal ball, it's 50/50 that any of the above Dems flip, while only a one in three chance any of the Repubs do so.
