Maybe we thought Pence was "Anonymous "because Coats wanted it that way?

Many of us thought the author of the NYT piece was Mike Pence because of the word "lodestar" which Pence has publicly used. But my daughter pointed out that perhaps the author just wanted us to think that it was him. But why, I thought? And who would want to make Pence look like Trumpy's betrayer?

And then I remembered a Politico article from a few years ago when Mike Pence actually compared Dan Coats to a Nazi - that might explain the subtle pointing at Pence.....

If Trump is removed, Pence is president.

Unless someone has something on Pence.

I didn't catch the whole show but some folks on the panel seemed to think so, O'Donnell seems to think it has to be Dan Coats or Mike Pompeo.

The author is speaking as "I" but refers to his "like-minded colleagues and I" doing the same. On multiple occasions, the letter talks of the group effort.

Coats could be the one with less to lose. Who didn't care if he was named.

I don't know.

I do wonder at the motive.

Perhaps the "Lodestar" wording was not to throw shade on Mike Pence, but to suggest that he too is on board with this resistance, I don't know - as one poster said, it has the feel of an Agatha Christie novel.
