What Exactly Does Kamala Harris Have On Brett Kavanaugh?

Harris didn’t confront him with a document, so whatever this is, her sources for this conversation are outside of the paltry email dump the committee got. She continues to press him on whether or not he’s spoken with anyone at Kasowitz about the Mueller investigation and he keeps asking her to identify who she’s thinking of. She delivers a remarkably cold: “I think you’re thinking of someone and you don’t want to tell us.”

What in the hell was all that?!? Was Kavanaugh covertly counseling Kasowitz on Trump’s defense? It would seem as though she could have dropped the hammer and gotten more specific. Not for nothing, but my immediate reaction was this may have had nothing to do with Mueller at all. Harris seemed less interested in building a case for recusal than making sure Kavanaugh knew that she knew that he knew someone at Kasowitz and that she could introduce that fact into the record at any given moment between now and the final vote on the floor.
(emphasis added)

At this point, it’s up to our imaginations what that could mean, but a seasoned prosecutor leaning on someone based on their acquaintances doesn’t generally bode well for the witness. Certainly felt like the prosecutorial equivalent of “nice little nomination you got here — shame if anything happened to it” that defendants hear all the time. Except instead of getting him to flip, she’s giving him a chance to walk away unscathed by whatever she thinks she has.

Could she be bluffing? Looks like we’ll get a chance to find out. This mystery is going to be far, far more exciting than anything else we’re likely to see on Day 3 when a cavalcade of witnesses will praise and condemn him in entirely predictable ways.

Unless someone from Kasowitz makes a surprise apperance on the witness list.

She does know something. And so does Kavanaugh. And this moment marks something very important.

And the fact that it may tie into Mueller and to Trump is very very important.

way too far? The implication is apparently that Kavanaugh may have used this law firm to relay his willingness to serve Trump to Trump before being selected. Maybe prosecuting, or yammering from others to prosecute, Kavanaugh isn't a distraction our leadership would want at this time?

has is probably not among the meager documents provided to senate Democrats. Of those, only some are labeled that way.

My guess, though, is that nothing this incriminating or disabling (requiring recusal from all Trump issues) would have been provided to the Democrats.

Go, Senator Harris! Any proof of lying, or at least prevaricating, in this hearing would make a nice underline to Kavanaugh's record of lying under oath a number of times before.

But, of course, if she has the means to prove he spoke with someone before the nomination who was in position to be a back channel for relaying Kavanaugh's feelings to Trump...!

How does she know that? DOES she know something, or is she guessing?

Is the guy I talked to going to talk? Did he talk about it? Is there a tape of it? A memo? Is there any way for others to know? No, he's not going to talk about it.

There's a chance he's trying to protect himself, in case he did talk to someone but didn't know the guy worked there. But I don't think so, because the appropriate, good faith, honest answer to that would be, "Not to my knowledge."

But that opens up the question...WHO all have you spoken with about the Mueller investigation? What did you say? And he doesn't want to answer that.

He's a slippery eel. THE FIX IS IN. He has let it be known that he won't RECUSE himself (you can bet Trump asked him that, given how angry he is about Sessions recusing himself) AND his beliefs are that he can't be indicted while in office AND the investigation went beyond the scope allowed by law. Boom. Trump goes on until 2020.

1. Kavanaugh is confirmed.
2. The W.H. files a lawsuit to stop the Mueller investigation by claiming a number of legal theories: Beyond the scope allowed by law; a witch hunt; taking too long; interfering with the running of the government, etc.
3. If the W.H. loses, it's immediately appealed to the S.Ct., where the 5 Repubs, with the sure-thing plants (Kavanaugh & Gorsuch), decide in favor of the W.H.
