Quote of the Day

This is what all of us have understood to be the situation from day one I understand this is the case and thats why I think all of us encourage the good people around the President to stay. I thank General Mattis whenever I see him.
Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN), quoted by CBS News, on the anonymous New York Times op-ed published yesterday.
There Are Dozens and Dozens of Us
September 6, 2018 at 7:00 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 18 Comments
President Trump is not just seething about Bob Woodward. Hes deeply suspicious of much of the government he oversees from the hordes of folks inside agencies, right up to some of the senior-most political appointees and even some handpicked aides inside his own White House, officials tell Axios.
The big picture: He should be paranoid. In the hours after the New York Times published the anonymous Op-Ed from a senior official in the Trump administration trashing the president, two senior administration officials reached out to Axios to say the author stole the words right out of their mouths.
Said one senior official: I find the reaction to the NYT op-ed fascinating that people seem so shocked that there is a resistance from the inside. A lot of us were wishing wed been the writer, I suspect I hope he knows maybe he does? that there are dozens and dozens of us.

Now me, I see nothing but trouble from various directions for Republicans in this, and I don't hate saying that at all.

They're 24% of the electorate (although several points less than that can be counted on to stick to the end).
But for now that leaves another quarter or so who are conservatives to be affected by this -- a majority of whom once called themselves Republicans, but no more. And the swiftboat machine was already overheating.
We don't need them all to not vote, just a few percent. Those who find the guts and principles to actually vote against the massively corrupt party they left will be a nice plus.
For people on the right, at this time pessimism is just good sense.

(37,158 posts)When the president is unable to carry out the duties of his office, there are two constitutional provisions: Removal by 25th Amendment proceedings, or impeachment.
A low-key junta of his staff is NOT part of those provisions.
This isn't Checks and Balance, this is Blank Checks For The Unbalanced.
Do your goddamn jobs! (but they won't, because IOKIYAR)
and their encouragement of the GOP congress to hurry up and ram their agenda through as fast as it can while they "hold down the fort" and make sure he signs off on the crap.

It actually brags about the tax heist as an accomplishment, and btw our next payment on just that $1.6 trillion transfer of national wealth to the Republicans' controllers comes due in only 3 months now.
