Michigan legislature to increase minimum wage to $12 an hour provide sick leave

https://www.mlive.com/news/index.ssf/2018/09/minimum_wage_hike_paid_sick_le.html

Now the Republican controlled legislature wanted to keep this off from a ballot initiative in November and they'll try to weaken the law with amendments that will only need 1 more than half to be approved. But this is a win. The public is forcing the GOP's hand on issues that matter to them. While they'll weaken this law for sure, the fact that it's going to go into effect in some form is a huge change for our state.

Dems have a great shot to take over the State government here in Michigan, the minimum wage will go to $12 and higher here soon. We are winning on some issues, the people who have fought for a federal $15 minimum wage are leading the charge.

For me personally, it will effect me, while I am a salaried professional, my wife owns a small business that is seasonal and has to pick up work over the Winter months, sometimes she has had to take a $10 an hour job, $2 more an hour will help us and make her feel like she's not working for nothing.
