If it's a "total fabrication" (your words Trump)..... then
why
are
you
demanding
that
NYT
reveal
the
writer??????
You can't have it both ways. If it's a total fabrication, then leave it at that.
If you are demanding the identity of the person who "committed treason" because they are leaking information from inside the white house, then you are saying that the person must exist, and it therefore is not a total fabrication.
by demanding the identity, you reveal the truth, that they do exist and it is not a fabrication.
a fabricated person can't commit treason. every time you go on a tirade and demand the identity of the person you are admitting the story is real and contradicting your statement that it is a "total fabrication by the failing NYT."
duh.

(13,574 posts)The only way to know that is to realize the description of what goes on must be accurate. He may not have realized the level to which he was being babysat. It could be that having read that, he realized why he seemed to misplace documents sometimes! That's pretty close to a dead giveaway.

In fact, he's totally and willfully and carelessly both ignorant and stupid.

(17,984 posts)The WH calls on NYT to reveal its source. That focuses the spotlight on the very newspaper that Rump likes to refer to as "failing". NYT has a dilemma: if they reveal their source, they lose credibility with the majority; if they don't reveal their source, Rump gets to contend that the op-ed is fake news. Either way, this feeds the base of die hard deplorables. That is what is completely wrong with the situation. If I had been the NYT editor in chief, I would have told the source to go on MSNBC and read the statement publicly.

(33,643 posts)Trump: That's Fabricated!
Times: No, it's not.
Trump: Well then tell us the name of this treasonous individual!
Times: Nope.
Trump: I knew it! You won't say because you HAVE NO NAME! SEE, DEPLORABLES! FAKE NEWS!!!
See how that strategy is meant to work?
Also quite possible this is some sort of Rovian trick that the Times stepped into like Rather did, albeit not as damaging since it's only an Op-Ed.

(17,984 posts)'Cause I got there first!
The only thing wrong with our scenario is that it seems too complicated for Rump. So who orchestrated this? And remember, NYT said they were in contact with this official, which suggests they actually spoke with him/her.

(2,201 posts)and he's an ignorant guy.
But, he's not ignorant about everything..nobody is.
He's too dumb to understand that when he's accusing the anonymous writer of treason, he's actually admitting that that what the writer wrote is factual. That's not really surprising..he's a dope.
But, he also knows that his base isn't going to hear any of that. All they are going to hear is his denials on fox news. They are going to hear the the 'deep state' is fighting back against trump.
Check out fox news to see how his base is having this information fed to them.
