Governor Scott, I ran Medicare, and you are wrong. We Democrats stand united in protecting Medicare for our seniors. In fact, we Democrats protected Medicare when my team and the Justice Dept charged your company with Medicare fraud.

(88 posts)Unfortunately, not many voters, including Florida voters, read DU as we do. Not many voters are going to know of (or, in too many cases, believe) Shalala's response. They'll know of and swallow whole what Scott said and vote for him (and his ilk).
One of Democrats' problems for decades has been getting our message out and informing voters of the facts and how voting for RepubliCONs is a vote against their best interest. They've been so brainwashed by FOX and RW radio and TV ads that it's become almost impossible to rebut the misinformation they spew.
I don't have the answer. Unfortunately, I don't see us turning things around any time soon.
I will say this -- Should we take a house (or two) of Congress and the WH in 2020, we push, push and push our agenda through. Fuck negotiations, fuck compromising. And fuck any Democratic legislators who balk at pushing through a progressive legislative agenda. I love Obama. But he tried too hard to play nice while they fucked him over at every opportunity. Lesson hopefully learned by the next Democrat to occupy the WH.

(25,392 posts)Another GOP fraudster.
He has no business talking about Medicare and we should take him to the woodshed when he does.
Proud to say that Shalala has been out of politics for awhile as President of my alma mater. Go Canes!

(442 posts)He should be roundly chastised and beaten about the head and neck with anything handy the minute that the word "medicare" escapes his lips unless he is offering an apology to the millions of Floridian seniors he stole from! Madame Shalala was the Chancellor of my Alma Mater before she ran your school also...GO BUCKIE!!!!

Keep repeating it to everything they say. They've gaslighted us enough.

If you want to protect Medicare, vote Republican. If you want a socialist experiment with Medicare, by all means vote Democrat.
What Florida's reality is:
If you want to (promote privatized) Medicare, vote Republican. If you want (fair, democratic) Medicare (for all), by all means vote Democrat.
Scott must use the same Twitter writer's group from Heritage Foundation as Trump. Good gawd, what crooks..........

I'd also like to see him pressed about his "service" in the Navy. How many sodas did he sell to his fellow seamen? *snicker*
