The bottles of wine began at $260 (Canadian) and topped out with a Dom Perignon '61 at $15,000, and patrons of Drai's Vancouver were not allowed to lift cups wearing T-shirts or sneakers and could not break out selfie sticks.
But the pricey, 8,000-square foot Las Vegas-style nightclub at the Trump International Hotel and Tower closed for good on September 4.
"After that date, Drai's Vancouver will no longer be offering the leading nightclub experience in Vancouver," Dave Brown, VIP Service Manager, informed the media.
"After an exciting year operating as a nightclub we feel our client will be better served with a high end lounge," said a statement that followed.
Drai's Vancouver (British Columbia) was described by its manager Steve Brooks as "Vancouver's newest ultra lounge." Cocktails cost $15-20. The menu was designed by the executive chef of Drai's Las Vegas. The club featured an indoor pool and an outdoor hot tub.
The Trump Tower in Vancouver opened soon after Donald Trump inauguration as America's 45th president. Donald Trump, Jr. and Eric Trump were present for opening ceremonies. So were more than 100 demonstrators outside on West Georgia Street.
