This is what I am now calling the Trump era. Never in my life have I seen so many Americans who are completely out of touch with reality. Reality does not matter anymore. Its like I'm watching millions of Americans walk head long into a forest fire and they are not aware of the fire.
Trump, he can be incompetent, evil, ignorant, as much as he wants and nothing goes wrong, he does not pay a price. It's fucking bizarre. It should have been impossible for Trump to be elected in the first place. His campaign was a fucking joke. How could 46% of women vote for Trump? He threatened them! He treats women like shit. He told women what he was going to do. Many women ignored reality. It's fucking crazy.
So many people now follow lies like its reality. The lights are on but nobody is home. I meet so many people who have no idea what is going on in the world. They don't know about the investigation. Thats impossible but it's happening.
I know this, the November election will be the most terrifying election in my lifetime. If the unthinkable happens and the Republicans maintain control of the congress we will pay for our madness. If that happens we will all have to wait for the inevitable disaster that is heading our way.
If the democrats can at least take back the house we may be able to save ourselves from Trump. I don't know how we can save ourselves from the millions of Americans who no longer believe in reality. It may take something extreme to fix that, War , economic disaster. I don't no anymore, nothing makes sense.

(52,126 posts)the media often responded with jaws dropped at what he said, but that's not being critical or giving it any context or raising alarm bells. that's just announcing how unusual and remarkable it is that donnie says such things, and people can read into that approval or disapproval.
the media failed miserably -- to the point of covering-up -- what a donnie presidency would look like, or, for that matter, what a hillary presidency would look like. when it came to the 20% the covered hillary, it was almost all about emails, benghazi, and pneumonia.
the media has belatedly gotten somewhat better as they are covering donnie's massive and countless scandals, but still show a huge right-wing bias, as any democrat in a similar situation would have been completely written off by the media ages ago.

(10,721 posts)We might have some hope of reaching a portion of those who are disengaged, but those who subscribe to an alternate reality are beyond hope.
In addition to anti-racism and anti-sexism, the Democratic Party needs to place quite a bit of emphasis on media literacy being mandatory curriculum in schools.
