Brett Kavanaugh: 'I coach a girls' basketball team'

Republican Senator: Judge Kavanaugh, would you describe yourself as God’s gift to the court, or as God’s gift to all mankind? Why is your handwriting so terrific and your hair so sumptuous? Is it true that you have never really been wrong? Is there anything you would like to add?

Kavanaugh: (gravely) 9/11.

Democratic Senator: Do you believe Roe v. Wade was correctly decided?

Kavanaugh: I believe that Roe v. Wade was decided in the past.

Democratic Senator: Correctly?

Kavanaugh: I coach a girls’ basketball team.

Democratic Senator: You’ve said Brown v. Board was a great decision. Do you believe that Obergefell v. Hodges was a great decision?

Kavanaugh: I believe that Obergefell was written by Justice Kennedy.

Democratic Senator: Do you agree with it?

Kavanaugh: I can quote it!

Democratic Senator: What is your view of whether the president is subject to law?

Kavanaugh: I believe that U.S. v. Nixon is one of the most correctly decided cases in the history of the Supreme Court.

Democratic Senator: *sigh of relief*

Kavanaugh: …in the year 1974 by Justice Burger about Richard Nixon.

Democratic Senator: Can we conclude anything from this?

Kavanaugh: I coach a girls’ basketball team.

I think it's creepy that a very conceited and very busy Catholic man who sends his daughters to rich schools, that can afford professional coaches, is doing it for free. He looks like a creepy guy and he comes off as sanctimonious. Yeah, he reminds me of those Catholic pedophiles in the church. Not all of them were/are priests.

I would Never let him coach my little girl.

Remember this.......

HE is the man who devised the SALACIOUS questions that were asked of Bill Clinton regarding Monica.

A Catholic schoolboy, he somehow had enough imagination or perv history to construct all those questions.

The tv will be trumping around, as usual, and ignoring this critical sham confirmation of an unfit SCOTUS justice.

TrumPutin won't last long. Kavanaugh will distort and attack until impeached (not very likely).

If I had a daughter on a basketball team he coached, I'd let her continue only if she were accompanied at all times by two armed body guards who are both experts in two forms of martial arts and can hit a bullseye with a Glock at 100 feet.

Without such protection, I would never let a daughter (or son) of mine play on a girls' basketball team coached by the likes of Kavanaugh.

school and so on have to say about him, but so far nothing illuminating his bad facets. Apparently he's always been very involved in sports and hung with circles of sporty friends who like him even if they don't agree with him as adults (who quarrels over abortion with old friends when they could keep it to scores?). That's very typical of most social conservatives -- they make loyal, caring, supportive friends within their circles. It's all those "different" people they can be real trouble for.

Addendum: Link for David Brock, interesting, kind of stuff I was expecting to run across eventually, but consider the source. And these were work relationships, not people who just knew him outside work.

As for highly trumpsterish smears about him as a child molester, isn't the real man awful enough without this? He does look as mean to me as we know he's capable of being, but he's described as a good father and there's nothing like that in his background.

I worry that he intends my granddaughter to go to prison if she takes an abortion pill some day, that she'll live in the world's most advanced third-world authoritarian nation where no sensible person ever backtalks the police and employers can destroy the reputation of anyone who gets on their bad side without fear of redress.

He wrote the questions that Starr asked Bill Clinton, and they were VERY EXPLICIT and harassment to a degree.

He obviously makes a very nasty, unprincipled enemy, but creepy as his voyeuristic vagina-cigar fantasies were, it's not the same thing.

I once had a job working with sexually abused children. You would be amazed at how well these creeps can hide in plain sight. Little things were all that gave them away. Then suddenly, you had several children with strange injuries and grown former victims coming out.

Then I also wonder about his involvement with all the torture. The torture at Abu Ghraib got sexual very quickly. Didn't Cheney get videos of the torture that he had destroyed? What did Kavanaugh's memos encourage or allow? He seems to me to be on the edge of all the most creepy and perverted of RepubliCON criminal maneuvering.

moral depravity should raise suspicion that there could be others.

But Farmer Rick, social conservative hostility and aggression toward "others" outside their tribe is an entirely different thing from child molestation. No overlap.

In a very wrong situation, I suspect a person like Kavanaugh might rule that genocide of "others" was constitutional, including of their children. And I don't mind saying so because he is being considered for high power, and I believe it's helpful to try to imagine what a person might do with far more power than we intend. A sort of mental exercise of Lincoln's "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." An examination of character.

But that's different.

I am all too used to having paragons of the community with spotless records turn out to be walking horrors, due to them covering up any wrongdoing with position, threats and intimidation. Granted, this doesn't automatically mean Kavanaugh is a child molester, but his pious exterior plus his dedicated unwillingness to respond to one question with a straight up answer fits the pattern of the worst of the worst, and I still would not let any child of mine anywhere near the likes of him unsupervised. If he's legit, then why the f*** won't he act like it?
