We do not want the Democrats in congress to move far left. We want this.

We want them to fight harder once they are back in power. We want them to uphold the law and hold Republicans accountable if they break the law, If they commit perjury for example.

We do not want the democrats in congress to crawl into the gutter to fight Republicans. We want them to bring to justice the people who live in the gutter. People who obstruct justice, misuse tax payer money, break their oath of office.

We want the democrats to fight harder for unions. We want them to fight harder for campaign finance reform. We want them to fight harder for healthcare for all. We want them to fight harder against the rich who have bought and now own the Republican party.

None of this is far left. It's not socialism. Its common decency, Its about doing whats right. Fight harder for what is right, should be our rally cry.

That is a shift to the left. FuxNews and the rest of GOP's nut job propaganda machine has IMO created and reluctance or fear among Democrats to counter there propaganda.

They need to be blunt and vocal at every opportunity. About how these draconian tax cuts are undermining the country. About how investing in people and this countries institutions and infrastructure is the key to making it strong. That the way to strengthen the country is from the bottom up, not top down. The need to stand up for protecting and shoring up the social safety net. These are not things to run away from.

yet we also need our Party to openly and firmly speak out against racism, prejudice, ignorance and hate. Until these enemies of the people are defeated, all the rest will not help anyone because they will not happen. Not as long as we are divided by race and class. Something everyone is afraid of broaching as a demand or not talking about or really want to be changed by any active resistance or struggle. Racism and classism, not lack of $$$$$$$ is the first priority in the struggle for equality. Plenty of very well off POC, but they still get stopped for LWB. Why can't this Party admit that reality? Enemies of democracy and POC? Racism and classism. Level the playing field based on white entitlement and privilege in amerika, then the economics will start to be equaling out for all.

but I have no trouble with centrist democrats tearing pieces out of the authoritarian fascist robber baron machine called the Republican party. "Socialists" who do are just little worm sucking posers.

That is still what I want to see Democrats fight for.
Republicans have labeled anything Democrats do "far left" and "radical." Those epithets should be meaningless by now.

Yes - stand for unions. Why we ever stopped our full support for workers I will never understand.
But they need to fight for universal health care, access to quality education through college, voting systems that can be trusted and audited, better social security, veteran's care and so much more.

Whatever he calls his ideology...whatever...as long as he belongs to the Democratic Party and signs onto the Democratic Party Platform, and will not vote for Republican or Trumper bills....that's what matters now.

Nothing else matters, if we don't take back Congress or get enough seats to thwart the Republicans/Trumpers.

Of course, in order to win, we need a new kind of Democrat. A fighting Democrat. Not the polite, rule-abiding, genteel Democrat of old. Things have changed. We are dealing with a new kind of Republican. A Trumper. Who doesn't follow rules, doesn't put country over personal gain, who has no ethics or morality, who will put children in cages.

Stances on particular issues don't matter RIGHT NOW...at this point in time. A Democrat generally signs on to uphold the ideas in the Democratic Party Platform, but not necessarily everything.

This is a crisis.

Years ago, and it might have been on Rachael’s show (?) the statement or premise was made that the Republican agenda, proposed years ago, was to swing policy so far to the right, as they’ve done, that any corrections by Democrats if and when they are elected in the future, will have the net result of pulling the Dems closer to center, not left - a net gain for the GOP. Today, we are not talking about, but witnessing that very action in full battle array.

While your point was well taken and understood, there also needs to be the realization that we may be fighting for years to restore what the goof ball in the Oval Office has destroyed, much less the time it will take creating new policy initiatives. How much time will it take to RESPONSIBLY return to clean water, clean air, maintaining our national treasures like parks and bodies of water. Not to mention voting rights, a woman’s right to choose what to care for in her own body, and on and on.

So yes, march on with integrity when you can but don’t put your knife back in its sheath, and never forget that the other side are slippery, low life money grubbing bastards (always have been) who care for NOTHING more than power, control, and whores for the president. Lead with honor when we can, and fight like a pissed off pit bull when we must. But more than anything else, get the job done.

"moving far left" is not equivalent to "crawling into the gutter"

Being "far left" in America means you might be slightly left in Europe. I'm sorry but no. Being far left is not equivalent to being wrong, evil or anything else pejorative. Many here are "far left" and for the record, and though they don't realize it, many of the voters are much farther left than their representatives.

If you think that racial and sexual equality are "far left", you hve already bought the enemies propganda. If the you think working for economic and social justice is "far left" them you are probably not a democrat. Words are important. One way the R's have kicked ass is to change the semantics and describe what the Democratic Party has always stood for as "far left".
