Washington Post columnist suggests Jared Kushner is behind NYT op-ed for one very good reason

As Von Drehle notes, oddsmakers are giving 12-1 odds that the culprit behind the column that has turned the White House upside down is the husband of Trump daughter Ivanka, who has always appeared to be unwilling to be part of the Trump Administration.
As the columnist notes, The Jared Theory also answers a question so many have asked since the op-ed was published on Wednesday: Why doesnt this self-styled patriot resign? Theres no leaving for Jared Kushner. As the saying goes: You marry The One, you marry the family. The only clean break from his dilemma is to wake up from a nightmare in June 2015.
By being revealed to be the resister keeping Trump in check as best he can, Kushner would be paving the way for him and his wife to once again find acceptance in the Manhattan social scene from which they were carried away by Trumps surprise win.
Jared and Ivanka return to New York and resume their climb to the top of Manhattan society, the author suggested. Having been so close two short years ago, now theyd have a hard time getting invited to the opening of a vape shop in Hells Kitchen. But errant sheep returning, shall we say, sheepishly to the fold is one of the great plotlines of literature and Page Six.

(873 posts)J-Rod has to remain in the position he has. Screw their social status. J-Rod & I've Yanked Ya will never, never cleanse themselves of the Trump stench. J-Rod , in his desperation to obtain large sums of money, has exploited his position, power, and influence, in what is basically a shakedown operation, to get hundreds of millions of dollars, perhaps a billion dollars to bail his and his father's asses out.

(819 posts)IMO The Op-ed was a manufactured scandal meant to divert attention, which was successful.
And the media took the bait and ran out the reel with it.
Not the first time that the Republican "elves" have used this technique of blasting bad news out of the media by providing something more shocking.

(819 posts)It was all timed with the Kavanaugh hearings. What's more influential... a Justice who will serve for 30-40 YEARS... or a news article that will be forgotten in 2 weeks?
People really need to catch on.

(61,872 posts)He's as complicit in Trump corruption as anyone and the op-ed would be the first sign that he has any principles.

What little trust there was (after "Fire & Fury" and "Unhinged" and the nature of his staff) will go out the window with this OpEd and Woodward's "Fear". They'll be positioning themselves for what they perceive is to come. Every man/woman for themselves. Trump's impulses will rage out of control as his presidency spirals down the toilet.

(9,865 posts)....this could end the marriage. She'd have to hate him a lot to humiliate and destroy his image and ego like this.
Very doubtful it's Jared.
There's lots of non-high profile names who are nonetheless in the know, that this could be.

But not for social reasons. For legal ones: That boy going to JAIL just like his daddy before him. Trump might not be able to padon him.
UNLESS! 25th amendment could be salvation for the whole crooked family. How?
1. Trump presidency suspended on account of mental incapacity... dementia perhaps. And who's gonna prosecute an old man with dementia? He'd have a built in defense based on mental incompetence!
2. Just before handing over the reigns to Pence, Rump pardons his whole grifting family. Or pence pardons them. It's not obstruction if he's not related to those being pardoned.
3. They all walk. Keeping their $ and freedom.
4. Even if Dems take the house, too late to impeach Don the Con.
