In history books, Trump will be seen as a catalyst for the decline of America.

Understandable the hyper-focus on him since simplistic narratives are appealing. (For example, the dominant narratives of the Revolutionary War focus on George Washington, and not the victories of his many generals)

Looking at multiple factors are inconvenient if you want a simplified meme.

Which is unfortunate because the decline of America can also be laid at McConnell's feet. I can't think of a majority leader in recent history more willing to abuse constitutional norms which verge on crisis levels.

This man broke a 200-year-old tradition and declared pride over doing so ( Wither Burkean Conservatism which prided itself on preserving traditions and norms)

It was expected Republicans would want Gorsuch to replace Scalia, that's a wash.

But Garland was the better replacement for Kennedy since both Garland and Kennedy are moderates.

Instead, we get a hard right replacement.

McConnell doesn't give a fuck about this. He represents GOP obstruction and willingness to destroy constitutional norms and obstruct a Democratic President in unprecedented ways.

This decline cannot be laid at the feet of Trump alone. McConnell is one of many heads in this Hydra of Awful.

McConnell cares about one thing.... Power
Trump cares about one thing..........Money

Together, they care about two things... Money and power

Any questions?

Money and def. power yes, but they also honestly think their shitty bad ideas lead to better outcomes - question is, what for them is a better outcome? Bigotry, sexism, accommodating alt-right/white nationalism, weaponizing legislation to hurt the vulnerable isn't just performance.

As a matter of fact, the downfall in f America is a small price to any for these things.

Combine that with Christian evangelical ideals and you get a rural backlash. The same media gave rise to nationalist movements, which in turn lent a platform to white supremacists. And so on and so forth.

Your Hydra has a few million heads I think. The entire world is sick, and Rump is a symptom.
