How the president begins the most solemn day on the American calendar

Donald J. Trump

“We have found nothing to show collusion between President Trump & Russia, absolutely zero, but every day we get more documentation showing collusion between the FBI & DOJ, the Hillary campaign, foreign spies & Russians, incredible.”

An aide will remind him it's Sept 11

Yes he will probably send out something to stir up hate to appease his base of deplorables

most people alive today weren't alive, or weren't old enough, so for most Americans Pearl Harbor isn't a 'personal' experience, to them it's merely a sad event described in a school history book and shown in old movies.

9-11 OTOH was much more recent and it struck hard at the very heart of the American people because it was an attack mostly on civilians, not the military like Pearl Harbor was.

If it's death tolls of civilians vs military that make one day more solemn than another, 9-11s was also higher. Compare the following:

How many people died at Pearl Harbor during the attack? The total number of military personnel killed was 2,335, including 2,008 navy personnel, 109 marines, and 218 army. Added to this were 68 civilians, making the total 2403 people dead. 1,177 were from the USS Arizona.

During the September 11 attacks of 2001, 2,996 people were killed (including the 19 hijackers) and more than 6,000 others injured. These immediate deaths included 265 on the four planes (including the terrorists), 2,606 in the World Trade Center and in the surrounding area, and 125 at the Pentagon.

Both days are very solemn days and ones to be remembered but I'm pretty sure that most Americans would say 9-11 cut deeper, most of us clearly still remember that day and therefore to us it's more so... at least for now. Sadly, in 60+ years from now (77+ yrs after 9-11) 9-11 will be out of most people's personal memories and only discussed in history class and by senior citizens.
