IF Kavanaugh is confirmed, that is what we can expect to hear from those who have steadfastly predicted the success of Trump's "get out of jail free" gambit and clucked their disgust with any who were so "naive" as to hope that somehow, decency and common sense would prevail.

I will amplify my naivete and ask: is it just possible that their prophesy was, in part, self-fulfilling?

I am not questioning or criticizing our Senators. I was proud of them. But, I am questioning whether "we, the people" let ourselves be persuaded that Mr. K's confirmation was "inevitable".
