Dr. London is a physician, mother of two, and on the cover of her laptop is a sticker, "Nasty Women Vote." Since early this AM, a drive has started on Twitter to boost her number of followers. If you're interested, here's her twitter address:

(58,785 posts)does actually run, but she may be problematic for the role of anti-Collins heroine. She's actually been talking about running for a few months, which lead to this report below by the AP last month, and thus its dissemination through many sources.
Note that she had not affiliated with a party for her run as of the AP article, but the lower article I linked says she hoped to be the Democratic nominee. She has no political experience but, like a lot of people popping up these crazy days, she apparently sees U.S. senator as an appropriate entry-level position to train in for a new career in electoral politics.
The board announced its entering into a consent decree with Dr. Cathleen London that places her on probation and prohibits her from prescribing the opioid addiction treatment drug methadone. Shes also required to pay $3,000 in investigation costs.
London, who has a practice in Milbridge, faced nine complaints from 2016 and 2017 of violating patient confidentiality, inappropriate interactions with patients, and inappropriate prescribing of controlled substances, among others.
Her attorney didnt immediately respond to a message.
In July, London announced she would run against Collins but didnt say whether shed run as an independent or with the backing of a party.
Here's a much fuller article about her from Maine Public in July that notes some positive points. The dispute over some frozen pad thai (link to ABC News article provided), where Dr. London was slapped in a Trader Joe's by a stranger, should be a nothing, but the battle for this senate seat will be fierce when it happens.

We'd love a challenger who Collins finds really frightening to pop up about right now, but this may not be the one. For sure other competitors for Collins' senate seat will be running in 2019-2020 under both Republican and Democratic labels, and probably one or two others.
