The sudden cooperation underscores how much the GOP fears losing Texas. The shock waves are being felt well beyond the state, as its several expensive media markets could force the party to spend money there that it will have to subtract from GOP hopefuls in other battlegrounds.
Other campaigns are going to be shorted due to the lackluster nature of the campaign, said one White House official, speaking of the Cruz operation.
Every dollar spent in Texas is a dollar not spent somewhere else, like Nevada, Arizona, Missouri, Florida, etc. And its all to save Cruz, who has called Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell a liar from the Senate floor, and pretty much nailed it in 2016 when he accused then-candidate Donald Trump of being a "pathological liar." Cruz also famously riled up the House crazies into a frothy lather in 2013, producing a government shutdown that almost no one in the Senate caucus but him wanted

(22,112 posts)Cruz has a few screws loose, and is mouthy as heck, and is a know-it-all.
He alienated everyone in Congress and no one wants to even work w/ him. A pathetic loser, and certainly not a team player.

(37,999 posts)TX 13 congressional district is the reddest GOP district in the nation. Statewide candidate ads there are not unheard of but they're not common and they sure as shit don't start airing this early.

(145,130 posts)The key thing is that no republican expected to have to help Carnival Cruz and critical resources are being diverted from other key races to try to save Carnival Cruz https://www.politico.com/story/2018/09/09/ted-cruz-reelection-trump-813354
With ORourke outraising Cruz more than 2-to-1 during the past quarter, right-leaning organizations have begun sending resources to the state. The anti-tax Club for Growth, which spent millions on Cruz during his 2012 Senate bid, has started a seven-figure advertising blitz aimed at tearing down the Democratic congressman. The organization has begun polling the race, and David McIntosh, the organizations president, recently traveled to Texas to meet with donors who could help fund the barrage. More than $1 million has been raised so far, people close to the group say.
I want Beto to beat Carnival Cruz and for the GOP to have wasted so many resources that we hold the seats in red states
