New York Prosecutors Move to Bring Down Trump and His Kids

New York Prosecutors Move to Bring Down Trump and His Kids

CNN has reported that New York state prosecutors have asked to meet with Michael Cohen’s attorney. This shows that the State of New York is not waiting for Bob Mueller or other federal law enforcement authorities to pursue criminal investigations against Donald Trump or his children.

After the Michael Cohen plea deal we reported that the Trump Organization could be implicated in federal crimes, and the federal prosecutors were pursuing those crimes.

We also reported that if Mueller didn’t want to go after Donald Trump and his business right now, that New York State prosecutors might want to go ahead instead of waiting for the feds to make their move.

Now it appears that this is exactly what is going on.

With all the different parties involved, and all the different potential crimes involved, this situation can get confusing. The most important thing to know right now is that New York is pursuing two different lines of criminal investigation that involve the president and his children:

The Trump Organization, and
The Trump Foundation.

We knew that it was full steam ahead with respect to the Trump Foundation lawsuit, as we have reported previously.

But we didn’t know until this week that New York was going to move immediately to investigate the Trump Organization for its state crimes.

According to CNN:

“New York state tax department investigators are scheduled to meet Tuesday with an attorney for President Donald Trump‘s former personal lawyer Michael Cohen, as part of a state probe regarding Cohen and the Trump Organization.”

“State tax officials are examining potential tax fraud by the Trump Organization.”

“Federal prosecutors are continuing to pursue a line of inquiry stemming from their Cohen investigation: whether Trump Organization executives violated campaign finance laws.”

“The New York tax department now also appears to be examining the Trump Organization based on information included in the federal charges against Cohen.”

Here are the details of state tax crimes:

Court filings from federal prosecutors showed that Cohen submitted false invoices to the Trump Organization in an effort to get reimbursed for hush money he paid to women who had alleged affairs with Trump.
The company then paid out those invoices as legitimate business expenses, which would be tax fraud.
The tax department is also examining whether the Trump Organization failed to keep accurate books and records, which is also a crime under state law.

If the tax department finds any wrongdoing they will refer the matter to the state attorney general for prosecution.

We’ve always known that Donald Trump cannot pardon anyone on state level charges, so this news is a big deal for the president and his family.

Also, there is no rule that says the president’s business (The Trump Organization) or the president’s children cannot be indicted while he is president.

And New York prosecutors look like they are moving very aggressively and don’t want to wait to pursue criminal charges.

And there’s nothing Donald Trump can do about it. Three of his children– Don Jr, Eric, and Ivanka – are involved in finances of both the Trump Organization and the Trump Foundation. So they might be implicated in the company’s illegal financial maneuvers.

In short, New York State can indict and arrest Trump’s kids while he’s still in office.

Donald Trump’s horrible week appears to be getting even worse.

They quickly and easily found evidence of violation of State tax laws and forwarded it to the NYAG's office. It was always "the trump card", so to speak, because there is nothing Don can do to get rid of the investigation or pardon people at the end. They don't have to wait - and are not going to wait - because of the dire circumstance we face. It was very clear that about two months ago, "it was decided" that he had to go as soon as possible. It may have been Helsiki, it may have been the trade war or it may be a combination of several things. But it appears that "it was decided" and its all over but the removal.

The Machiavellian side of me wonders if there have been talks between Mueller and NY. I see this as a way to protect Mueller's investigation because it would be astronomically worse for trump to try and dismantle any prosecution or investigation when evidence of wrong doing in NY becomes apparent. I sincerely doubt that NY will be as leak proof as Mueller and information as to the crimes of the trumps will become public knowledge.

that there are most likely sealed indictments for anyone who's last name is "Trump" at the federal level and probably the State level as well. Financial crimes aren't hard to prove and certainly not hard to get an indictment for. With the speed that they got Manaforte, you can easily see how they could have the same charges lined up for others.

Thu Sep 13, 2018, 02:06 PM
Sep 2018

Trump's arrogance and narcissistic personality will never allow jail time. He is trying to stack the Supreme Court to prevent prosecution for federal crimes, but can't do much about state crimes.

He only has one last resort option to fall back on.

He has a private plane. It will be fully fueled. It will be at a private airport and can take off at any time.

He will load up all his guilty spawn and they will fly off to Saudi Arabia (which is, in my opinion, the only safe place to go to with no extradition treaty, arranged by Jared on his trip) and continue to be "President Trump, in exile", and continue to wreak havoc on our democracy.

I don't think he will go to Russia because Putin will tire of him and kill him.

He will still be in the headlines daily, because he will make sure that his echo chamber keeps him in the news.

I am afraid we will never be rid of this cancerous cyst in the body politic.

But it doesn't mean that we should not pursue all legal options to rid ourselves of him.

Once he/they are gone, we need to use his own playbook and set about undoing EVERYTHING he has done, especially removing all judges he appointed. If he appointed them, they have dirt in their background, which should be used to impeach them, or make their lives so miserable they will resign.

But that is just my opinion, and hopes.

YMMV

The suspicion that if things get too hot and too close, trump's gonna make a run for it. News will dribble out slowly at first - that nobody can account for trump's whereabouts. Suddenly, nobody can find him. Nobody knows where he is. And come to think of it, nobody's sure where Melania is. OR Barron. And then it'll start into "...AND Ivanka and Jared!" And then "AND his other two sons. Where's Donnie Junior? And Eric? Anybody seen 'em?"

And then after lots of reporting is scrambled on this, and every source is tapped, somebody finally confirms something. They're GONE. An unidentified private jet took off from a nearby airport. Lots of hush-hush and unmarked black SUVs.

Washington would be thrown into complete chaos. Hyperventilating will be the new most popular indoor sport. Mike Pence would be wetting his pants at the thought of inheriting the Oval Office and trying not to appear at all hungry. So he'd hem and haw and there'd be lots of debate and insanity and gnashing of teeth as they try to figure out what position to take. trump gone? How quickly do we declare him replaceable? Should we remain loyal? And if so, for how long? How long before somebody invokes Amendment 25? How long before Pence gets tired of waiting and trying to look benign and unambitious, and asserts his entitlement to the job promotion, and whatever else. And how long will it take before others on that side of the aisle start arguing about whether to support him or start carving out some big future plans of their own?

This Is Just A Guess, mind you.

Then I want to see him after the drugs wear off feeling for the first time humiliation. I am not certain a malignant narcissist like this jackass can feel those things under any circumstances but I do want to see him feel the feelings we have for him for once in his life to be brought down to the level that we all live in and realize that just because he thinks things does not make them true or even worthy of another thought and no matter how much he wants us to all be living through his mind and thoughts he should finally know that we do not give a crap what he is thinking and don't appreciate having to deal with the effects of his negligent, ignorant governance.

They've been playing fast & loose with the books for way too long, gotten tax-exempt status by cheating, and they've been using the Foundation for scurrilous things like hush money to Cheeto's women among other things.

The special prosecutor has enough on his plate investigating the Russian interference and quid pro quos. This Trump Foundation stuff is something the NYS Attorney General could have pursued at any time, no matter what Robert Mueller has to say. Time to get to work!

We'll also see personal attacks on investigators and prosecutors. I also suspect he will be calling a lot of old friends in NY to help with his bag of dirty tricks.

Regardless, I think at least a couple of them will be indicted but the best thing of all this is that he will leave a huge shit stain on the GOP that will last for many decades.

And, hell no, we won't forget........ .........
