David Simon writer of the Wire tweets about Bothan Jean murder and 10.4 grams of pot

?s=21

When nothing else will justify the senseless death of a citizen at the hands of a wayward police officer, quick, reach for the American drug war. For half a century, that horror show has justified damn near anything -- especially against citizens of color. Christ almighty.

His reply to Fox News report that a Search warrant: Marijuana found in Botham Jean’s apartment after deadly shooting

Botham Jean was in his own apartment when he was shot. He had 10.4 grams of marijuana in the apartment.

The pot has nothing to do with what happened.

He was 26 years old with a small amount of pot which is legal in decent states and should be legal everywhere else.

That's not a lot of pot, which isn't really considered a big deal by a lot of people anyway. Why not a harder drug or a gun or kiddie porn etc.

One of my lawyers, Herbert Lahr (son of cowardly lion Bert Lahr)
called the DA when I was in his office. "How big of a chunk of ice do I
have to buy to cool this off?" he asked.
I had to stay in the Cochise County Zoo ( the title of one of my songs)
briefly, pay some bucks---go home and pop a brew.

that would matter is the blood test they did on the cop. Family lawyer should demand an independent test of cops hair to look for any dugs used by her. She was the shooter, he was unarmed and in his own apt.

Not exactly drug dealer quantity.

And even if so, they would never know if a cop didn't walk into his apartment and shoot him "accidentally".

He would just be another guy who rolled a doob now and then.

It just says the pot was found in the victim's apartment after the killing.

Here's what else was found inside the apartment:

2 fired cartridge casings......those are from the cop
1 laptop computer.......'surely' that belonged to the cop
1 black backpack with police equipment and paperwork...obviously, the cop's
1 insulated lunch box......i guess that's the cop's too
1 black ballistic vest with "police" markings...that one's pretty obvious...cop's
10.4 grams of marijuana in zip-lock bags....omg..that can't be the cop's...bc black guy
1 metal marijuana grinder.......see above
2 RFID keys....guess it could be both
2 used packages of medical aid ....probably the cop's

My point is that all this stuff sounds like it was found in the vicinity of where the crime occured.....not just someplace in the apartment.

Why are people automatically assuming that the pot belonged to the victim?
