GOP Sens. Murkowski and Collins called out for hypocrisy on Al Franken — while they still consider Brett Kavanaugh

Actress Alyssa Milano went after Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Susuan Collins (R-ME) on Sunday after Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s sexual assault accuser came forward.

Collins told CNN when arriving back in Washington Sunday evening that she wasn’t ready to decide whether to believe the accuser or not. But when the shoe was on the Democratic foot, Collins and Murkowski were quick to call for Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) to step down.

“I did find the allegations against him to be both credible, disgusting and appalling and degrading to women,” she told host George Stephanopoulos during an appearance on his Sunday show “This Week.”

“A little reminder, @SenatorCollins,” Milano tweeted. “This, from 2017, one week after the allegations—

Your move. The women of America are waiting.”

The same is true of the Alaska senator. While Murkowski has been ripped for potentially supporting Kavanaugh despite his opinions on Native Americans like the ones in her state, she hasn’t gotten much flack for her hypocrisy on Kavanaugh in wake of the assault accusations.

“We’re seeing a culture of harassment & assault being exposed on a daily basis,” Murkowski wrote on Twitter in 2017. “Whether you are in the media, politics, or anywhere else abuse of power is unacceptable & shouldn’t be tolerated at any place at any level. Sen. Franken must know that & that’s why he must step down.”

She has yet to call for Kavanaugh to step down.

“Your words. Your move. The women of America are waiting,” Milano tweeted.

But Kavanaugh is accused of forcing himself on Ford and pinning her down. And I remember that time period, the drinking age in Maryland then was 18 for beer and wine and it was 18 is DC for liquor, beer and wine. It was that way for about 10 years which happily coincided with my college years. Have a cousin who is 10 years younger then me, and when they changed the drinking age back to 21, her birthday was a month or 2 shy of whatever date they made for the change so she had friends that could drink, but she couldn't. Couldn't drink legally at least.

What about the pig castrator from Iowa? Why do the men Senators get a pass? Just a wild guess that there were statements from men Senators regarding Franken.

As in "I am a woman first of all and I think it is offensive to all women." Now, suddenly, they want us to see them not as women but as Republicans who must put party loyalty before gender.

but I am a man and I am also offended by male Senators who attacked Franken but give Kavanaugh a pass.

Aren't all Republicans, male and female, supposed to be the party of family values? I call out all Republicans who were outraged at Franken but not Kavanaugh.

and based on that same sentiment I expect Kavanaugh will be confirmed. The Trump-Republican party is now one and the same. Remember, there are 3 women who accused Trump of raping them, 2 of them were under age. One was about to take him to court until she got numerous death threats. So if Republicans are ok with overlooking rape and sexual assault in their president why wouldn't they be ok with appointing a man who attempted rape?

Republican big contributors now have to dig deeper in their pockets for bribe money for those two senators. There really are no Republican senators who are worthy of their office.

The two of them, coming out with perfectly laudable, credible speeches announcing their retirement from the Senate and denouncing Trump, will nonetheless have no problems or twinges of conscience when they vote to confirm Kavanaugh, no matter how horrible they both know he will be for the country. What could possible motivate a retiring Republican with a conscience to vote for someone like Kavanaugh to be on our Supreme Court?
