for 400 days, refusing to even allow Merrick Garland a hearing, let alone an up or down vote AND presided over a GOP Senate caucus which threatened, if Clinton had been elected,to hold the seatopen for four more years, ----THAT Mitch McConnell!-----is now whining that the Democrats are obstructing the Senate and corrupting it's "process"?!?!
"Have you no decency, sir?" (Totally rhetorical)

I think it's safe to say the word decency would stump him.

(21,624 posts)The story's 4 years old though. Plus - and thanks to the Colombians looking the other way (as they are wont to do with cocaine-related matters) - the case got very little traction in Colombian courts besides the original police detentions.
I might add that shortly afterward, water-tight packages of cocaine were intercepted off the coast of Rotterdam - the packages being intended for pickup by speedboats.
Jimmy Chao's Ping May's regular route, is between Santa Marta, Colombia, and Rotterdam.

(21,624 posts)There were arrests among the Ping May crew in Santa Marta at the time (one of Colombia's biggest ports - and a mjor cocaine transshipment point).
Unfortunately Colombian authorities ultimately opted to lookin the other way (as they are wont to do with cocaine-related matters) - the case got very little traction in Colombian courts besides the original police detentions.

Mitch was told by the President/white house, the CIA, the FBI, the NSA, and others that
Russia was meddling in the elections. LOCK HIM UP.

apparent reason. Bottom line Mitch knows the elections are dirty.

(23,971 posts)Why else would he so smugly and confidently refuse to hold hearings for Garland? And, IIRC, did he not recommend Garlan initially?
I hate him even more than I hate Trump, and that is a pretty damn high bar.
hughee99
(16,113 posts)If Trump won, he gets a nominee he likes more. If Clinton wins (and IIRC, she didnt promise not to replace Garland with another nominee) then they confirm Garland in a lame duck session for fear of getting someone they like less. The Dems werent going to fight Garland, and if the republicans wanted him, it would have been done in a day or two.
renate
(13,776 posts)I'd been 100% thinking that he knew about Russia... and I still kind of do, because he really stuck his neck out (LOL) to keep from voting on Garland at a time when nobody really thought Trump could win.
But your explanation is logical. I hate him a speck less now.
hughee99
(16,113 posts)That early on that Trump would win would be if the vote totals themselves were altered in many different states, and I havent seen any credible evidence that THAT happened. Hacking the dnc, running social media ads, even covertly funneling millions of dollars to help Trump arent sufficient to guarantee success.
In this case though, I thing McConnell was just being a weasel and trying to hedge his bet on a nominee. It was also probably a big factor that he could use this potential SC spot as a campaign issue to get out the vote.

(4,756 posts)Block people from voting in Madison and Milwaukee, you win the state and the Senate seat.
hughee99
(16,113 posts)other states would be. Otherwise, you'd have to have the ability to hack even more states than that... and I have yet to see any credible claims that ANY state had it's vote totals altered, let alone 3 or more.

that our society which studies the importance of all kinds of manure, sh*t and deposits, wants you
to know that we do not, under any and all circumstances wish that our favorite excretion, never, not even once, be mentioned in the same sentence as Mitch the turtle McConnell..
...We have pride in our manure, and other expressions there of. And "The Turtle" McConnell, is the very lowest form of life or half life that exists on this planet. While manure is indeed often thought of as a "lowlife", or sh*t, we will never even think about stooping as low and dirty as "The Turtle McConnell. We are sending our apologies to the ATA..that is the American Turtle Association..which represents the fine species of "turtles" of which McConnell is not a part of. He can be associated whatever lowlife one wishes to call him as long is it isn't our favorite excretion: Sh*t...........
Thank You for your cooperation...

(54,341 posts)Not because he "did it" to Garland, but because "he did" it to Obama.
We despise McTurtle because he is a liar, a hypocrite, and a crook.
McTurtle despises Obama because he was elected President as a "libbrul" black Democrat.
In Mitchie's eyes, Obama committed the far greater offenses.
