(31,983 posts)How can any woman these days vote for a Republican? They are all totally despicable.
Yeah, "Oh golly gosh, I was mixed up about getting raped!"
Mind. Boggling.

(4,723 posts)I can totally believe it. Lots of Republicans just like him. They HATE women. They hate the idea HATE it, that women are not treated as chattel property. In this case, he is acting like she is just a poor confused little missus who somehow wandered away from the stove, where he surely thinks she belongs. He is scum of the earth.

(115,681 posts)they'll claim that even if she was assaulted it wasn't by Kavanaugh. Some other guy did it. She's "mixed up." This could be a lame attempt to avoid beating up on Dr. Ford by calling her a liar (and thus upsetting all them triggered wimminfolk who aren't down with rapey guys), while getting Kavanaugh off the hook. "It was some other guy, not me!" Want to bet they try to go down this road?

(14,565 posts)"False identifications happen all the time"
Oh sure. I wish one of these hosts would ask how often it would happen...What do you think, Kenny?... 2 percent of the time...5 percent?
Let him go higher and make a fool of himself. Women everywhere would know how insulting it is, for something that traumatic to happen and then confuse who did it.
Anyway, it seems to be a line they are testing out

(31,986 posts)I was not there. But I do know as a defense attorney false identifications do happen frequently. All you have to do is google "dna evidence frees accused rapist" and you will find countless stories of innocent men who were identified by a woman and later found to be innocent because of DNA evidence. It DOES happen.

(14,565 posts)Known quantity of schools involved. Only a certain number of males would be at that school. Chances are the girl was familiar with them, and the names. If she specified two names and not merely one that explodes the likelihood of legitimacy, especially since the two boys were apparently linked as friends and have remained as friends.
She gave the account to her therapist in 2012 and detailed that the men have gone onto high positions of government, or some type of similar description. I don't know the exact words. Regardless, it describes an extremely low number of people.
Let's just say I would love to have an opposing defense attorney attempt a false identification argument. The biggest challenge would be not to laugh. I certainly hope the GOP senators attempt it next Monday.

(8,922 posts)I see this lining up good for us. When she goes in front of the nation and makes a strong impression the Republicans will be left with a choice. Kill the nomination, or continue to shove Kavanaugh through anyway, and watch the democrats peel off even more votes from women, and watch the blue wave turn into a blue tsunami.

(16,784 posts)The few Mormon men I know are hesitant to display any inkling of sexuality, let alone feel relaxed around women not their wives lor daughters.
From my research about Mormon sex, total nudity, foreplay of any kind down there, is forbidden. Mormon sex is for procreation. Couples are encouraged to pray first before sex so that it is blessed and in accordance to their beliefs.
Orrin Hatch is of that generation that has been OPPRESSED when it comes to matters of this manner.

(34,440 posts)Anita Hill's story became known, he and others decided before they had even heard her testify that they did not want to believe her. That is the very definition of bias, and some now are ashamed of their behavior during that process. He is not. Now he is displaying his bias again.

Hildale was the home of polygamous sect leader Warren Jeffs who is now serving a life sentence for child molestation. If Orrin played the organ there he probably knew the "leader" pretty well.
I think it might be Orrin who is mixed up.

"According to an aide to the senator, Kavanaugh told him that he wasnt even at the party where he is said to have forced himself on Ford, groped her, and tried to remove her clothing. Caldwell reported that Hatchs impression of the situation after speaking with Kavanaugh is that Ford could be mixed up about what happened."
