I think Kavanaugh will withdraw before next Monday.

Just my opinion, but I don't believe in the end he will go through with it, assuming he is lying. Will he have the will to show up to this spectacle and try to lie his way all the way through it? How might it affect his appellate judge standing if he fails to be confirmed and new questions arise about his credibility and fitness to be a judge at all? This is a pretty heavy deal to lie your way through. It could be a lot easier at this point to just withdraw and walk away, and skip all this mess. If he does show up, I'm thinking he may rue the day he did. He has a lot at risk by going through this process.

1. I wonder if he remains on the bench long term either way

Maybe this all goes away if he withdraws, but I'm not so sure, especially if any other victims come forward.

2. A lot at risk? For one, the adoration of his daughters.

I would guess that they have suffered comments at school or with their friends. They are at a vulnerable age and I'm sure they have never heard these stories about their father. His wife? Perhaps she knew about this attack, but if not, then he might be in danger of losing her, as well.

Last count I had there were 5 possible perjury replies. I'd say those plus Dr. Ford would surely be enough to disqualify him. If he were a Democrat, they certainly would have been enough.

It will be a pleasure to watch him squirm.

3. Under any other Republican administration, I think he'd step down...

...and they'd move on to the next name on their list. But, with Trump, it's different. Everything is about his ego, about him "kicking ass" if anyone challenges him. Trump picked Kavanaugh, people are trying to block Trump's choice, so it's vital that he win and they lose. Not only donít I expect him to withdraw, I expect Trump will turn up the pressure on G.O.P. senators to record-setting levels to get them to confirm, no matter what happens on Monday. And they'll probably go along.

5. Do you think that all the time he spent at the WH today

was Trump convincing him not to withdraw?

6. I think that was his original intention, but then Trump stepped in because he's dead without him.

Trump also may have promised him something or already paid him a perk of some kind to agree to the position and do as he was told. I don't picture Kavanaugh as a strong man who would argue with Trump. The rest of the time was probably spent coaching for the hearing again.

He's got a long week ahead of him...particularly if he's planning on lying.

8. I thought that might be the case. I believe Trump and Kavanaugh are too chummy also.

From the time he was nominated I've thought there was a secret agreement he accepted from Trump not to recuse himself (very important to Trump because of Sessions recusal) and to give Trump favorable rulings on certain key issues to Trump. He was bought by Trump and I'm sure Trump will fight like hell to keep him from withdrawing.

13. And entirely believable. Kavanaugh's incredibly bad.

I looked, and the average time for confirmation proceedings is almost 10 weeks. McConnell did his best to ram his confirmation through in just over 1 week (!) for what are now obvious reasons, but Democrats managed to force delay of the vote, which would have meant bringing it to vote after a 2-week confirmation examination.

7. We won't win the Supreme Court but one of the thousands of things

the Supreme Court does is decide law between various litigants, some of them women. If any woman, liberal or Repug, looks up at the bench and sees a frat boy rapist, we are diminished. Letís get the rapist out and try to win the Senate.

Let every privileged frat boy see what happens.

10. Like Trump and Ronnie Jackson, Kavanaugh might end up exposing things he wants to

keep secret simply because he was greedy for more status and more power than he already had.

15. Rumor has it there is someone else out there with a story.

If she (or he) comes forward, he'll definitely withdraw.
