(4,642 posts)Living near the great lakes I have seen them in action over the years but they do awesome Work during hurricanes, saved 100's of lives during Katrina and continue to show us what caring, dedicated professionals they are.

(24,274 posts)We were evacuated for one of the northern California fires in 2015. We had about ten minutes to grab what we could. Of course, I grabbed the dogs. I also grabbed dog food and left jewelry behind.
We were back in a few days and were okay. Others were not so fortunate.

(1,058 posts)His dog looks just like my chihuahua, same color scheme, but mine has a little bit larger ears.
What a beautiful story and thank god for those brave CG rescuers, they are the true heroes of this tragedy.

(53,410 posts)and made it to the roof of the van. And because he only has shorts on he and his dog may have been sleeping when the flood waters rose. His hair looks like he was swimming under the water. Especially in the first photo.
