I'm 67. When I was 8, the 12 yr old brother...

...of a friend reached between my legs and pinched me. I was sitting on the hood if my parents’ car, on the driver’s side. I remember his name. I remember his face. I remember his leering expression.

I can remember this relatively benign occurrence 59 years later, clear as day. There have been many accounts of experiences much more horrifying than mine described here on DU in the past several days. There is no doubt in my mind that Dr. Ford is remembering what happened to her in clear detail.

What Orin Hatch said was so insulting. He should apologize.
He stated I believe she is mixed up - I don't want to speak for her. Huh? You just did by stating she was mixed up.
Meanwhile -there is all this evidence of Kavanaugh being a teen that drank too damn much- it can't be that he's the one that's mixed up? Or lying? Without speaking to Dr. Fiord you declared her to be mixed up? What? Orrin Hatch and others like him are the reasons victims do not tell.

and the disrespectful, misogynist remarks he made this week that I called one of his local offices and told him and his dinosaur sexist attitude to get with the times or no one will ever vote GOP again. Then I told him he is a liar and the victim should be investigated by the FBI and to tell his pals in the Judic. Comm the same!

RAPED by a 18 YEAR OLD COUSIN....EVERY SINGLE DAY except Saturday & Sunday for a full year! I have NEVER forgotten what happened AND I went on to have a HORRIFIC case of endometriosis, which was evident from my first cycle which was unimaginably painful and went downhill from there. When I heard about Prof. Blasey-Ford tell her story, I knew INSTANTLY she was telling the truth because of my own experience, as well as those of so many women AND men I know. It's also why I am BOUND & determined to do everything I possibly can to make certain that that LYING PERVERTED CREEP is as close as he'll EVER GET to the Supreme Court Bench.

I ALSO always had a problem with trust of men & always try to find out where ALL the exits are...just in case.

at a tender age.
This makes me so sad to know that such horribleness goes on, on a continuing basis.
May you have peace now and for the rest of your life.

This might save your life, someday.

I can remember facts, figures and books I have read in great detail, but the memories of my personal life are often fuzzy at best. I tend to bury painful memories to the extent that I just do not remember them. When I was in college I was attacked by a man who grabbed me behind the gym. I was so shocked that I was able to push him away and run. I went into the woman's locker room and hid in the restrooms for quite a while before I came out.
A short while later (days) I told my English professor as she could she I was visibly upset and nervous. She felt that I had to tell the administration of this baptist college what had happened as the man was an employee of the college. I did so in a room full of men and only men. Then the man came in and denied everything and that was the end of that. After a while I put it completely out of my mind. Until the last year or so I had pretty much buried the whole memory. I have never talked about it again since that time.

... or so my ex-wife said/says. "You only remember the bad times". But I can remember things going back to when I was 4 or 5 years old as if they were yesterday. Both good and so called bad/worrisome. I can remember such detail of incidents that I usually get called a liar. Well, those folks, I just do not have anything to do with them after that. I guess we all have some issues, huh?

I am very sorry that your college time was marred in such a way. It is painful for me to visualize it. I am empathic by nature. And I hope this has helped you in some way to deal with your pain concerning the incident you described and the damage it inflicted to your sense of wonder with the world, especially at that stage in life.

And I am involved, former officer of a non profit 501C, with helping.
