...but I completely AGREE with the sentiment.

There were a number of reasons the Rethuglican Party worked so hard to make sure Al Gore would not be allowed to sit in the Oval Office, and high on the list were John Roberts and Samuel Alito. A firm, conservative majority on the SCOTUS has been the holy graille for 40 years. Hard-core conservatives knew that even if they did not control other branches of government, the Judiciary had the most lasting of consequences.

and critically necessary to continuation of our liberal democracy.

And stop insulting our Democratic senators by these false equalizations. We are fighting the confirmation of a man suited to Russia's authoritarian supreme court. But NOT ours!

Further, our senators are operating within the rules, standard procedures and mores of the confirmation process. The Republicans smashed them with Gorsuch and are continuing to smash them now in a ruthless attempt to give a lifetime appointment to someone as hostile to rights of the common man as he is supportive of authoritarian government and business powers over the individual.
