Lake Norman - 49.8 sq mi

Lake of the Ozarks - 87.4 sq mi

Table Rock Lake - 67.34 sq mi

Bull Shoals Lake - 70.55 sq mi

Aswan Lake (Egypt) - 2,030 sq mi

Lake Kariba (Zambia) - 5,580 sq mi (it is also the world's largest by volume)

so, even if Lake Norman was TEN TIMES LARGER than it is, it still wouldn't be the world's largest man made lake by surface area.

Two lakes not far south of where he was are called the Santee Cooper Lakes. Marion is 172 sq mi and Moultrie is 94 sq mi.
Lake Murray near Columbia is 78 sq mi.
But he was right. Truth is not truth, and the numbers I got undoubtedly came from the fake news media in an attempt to make Trump look bad.

~snip~

THE PRESIDENT: Good. Thank you very much. And how is Lake Norman, that area? How is that doing?

MS. GOOD: Good.

THE PRESIDENT: It’s doing good?

MS. GOOD: But still 10 or 12 inches of rain.

THE PRESIDENT: I love that area. I can’t tell you why, but I love that area.

MS. GOOD: It’s very nice. Thank you.
