Just a guess.

She's not looking for criminal justice. If she was, she could have filed charges at any point.

18. I disagree. This has been haunting her for decades, when she gets courage, Republicans discount her.

.

They will not take her seriously until criminal charges are filed.

Grassley and others are just messing with her and trivializing the incident. The denials, fabrications of other perpetrators, her being mistaken or confused are just further insults. There is no semblance of good faith in this whole process.

She's trying not to use the nuclear option, but there does not seem to be any other option. Her use of it would be a result of the fuckery Republicans are using to discount her. If she files charges, I seriously doubt the senate could confirm someone with an active criminal sexual abuse investigation underway. The FBI might get dragged into this to facilitate and act as a check on the Maryland county investigation. This would be good, because there would be two investigative bodies looking into her complaint.

Furthermore, a close relative of mine was forcibly raped and did not report it. It happened back in the 70s. If Dr. Ford does not try her hardest for a resolution, her present day decisions will come back and haunt her, where she will punish herself for not pursuing this to its fullest.

6. Can she prove her accusation beyond a reasonable doubt?

Can she even place him at the party?

Seems like she'd have to come up with a date and place to even have a chance of doing that. Then she'd need some evidence that he was there.

And that would only place him there. Then she'd have to prove he did something wrong.

Actually I think he'd have a better case.

He could charge her with slander to ruin his career. You have made a horrendous allegation against me. Now prove it, or pay up.

Saying that, I don't expect either one to file anything. Maybe him if he's defeated and wants to get his reputation back. Even then, it's more likely he just sink back into his nice life as a federal judge with a huge pension.

9. If she files charges, she will then have the burden of proof

to prove her accusation beyond a reasonable doubt.

Actually the prosecutor will have that burden if he/she sees it as a prosecution worth pursuing.

Just to get started you're going to have to tell the prosecutor when and where you were attacked. Then you're going to have to show that the attacker was even there at the time. Then you have to prove he attacked you.

The two witnesses are a start but each have already released sworn statements saying they don't know what you're talking about. If they change their accounts they'll be changing their sworn testimony so that's unlikely to happen.

Where would a prosecutor go? It's just not a provable case.

If he's denied the prize, then you might see the revenge suit filed.

17. If I were Dr. Ford, I'd file a Criminal Sexual Assault Charge in Maryland to get an investigation.

It would be highly unlikely that the Senate would confirm someone with an open investigation into criminal sexual assault. They are, according to McConnell, going to ram this through, and are just messing with Dr. Ford.

They will only start to take her serious when official charges are filed. That may also drag in the FBI, as now there has to be an investigation to properly investigate this matter. That will be good, because there will be two investigative agencies looking into her complaint.

Unfortunately, if Dr. Ford does not file charges, much of this would be for naught.
