The Republicans do NOT CARE about their place in history.

Keep in mind, the Republicans DON'T CARE about their place in history. If they cared at all about what horrible, selfish, greedy people they're perceived to be, they wouldn't be selling off our national parks, getting rid of SS and Medicare, tax cuts for their buddies -- none of it matters, because once they get Kavenaugh on the SCOTUS, or anyone like him, it's over.

They've got a lock on the government until most of you reading this are dead. Don't ever expect them to be reasonable about this. They know that the party will be out of power come November, and securing Kavenaugh as SCOTUS just assures that Trump, and the other Russian colluders in Congress, will be cleared of any wrongdoing. They'll be able to get rid of Roe V Wade, they'll get everything they want via the Supreme Court. They won't have to hold a single seat in Congress. Anything Democrats do will be brought before the Republican-led SCOTUS to be overturned.

Vote like your life depends upon it, because it does.

...you're absolutely right that Republicans in power don't care. Meanwhile, most Republican voters don't recognize it--they don't recognize that they will be looked upon in a very negative light.

If we don't at least take back the House in November, we're so terribly screwed. And we need to be in control of the House, Senate and White House in 2021. If enough people vote like their lives depend on it, perhaps we can even impeach some of the judicial appointments.

who managed to win with gerrymandered districts and Russian help will be putting in place policies for the MAJORITY of Americans who did NOT vote for them. I hope that if we take control of Congress, investigations can be initiated that will lead to Kavanaugh's impeachment for perjury and lying to Congress. Then, with any luck, members like Clarence Thomas and his ilk will pass on when a Democratic President is in the White House. If we control the Senate, we should hold any seats that come open before the 2020 election until after the election. What's good for the goose....as the saying goes.

4. Just a quibble here, but there is at least a bit of rw place in history awareness.

Chief Justice Roberts is definitely afraid of the historical ghosts of Dred Scott and being branded with Scott's notorious Roger Taney. Roberts saved the Affordable Care Act, [certainly a great save], to try and avoid that stigmata. In other decisions, he tries to bow the rw line, by distinguishing Scott/Taney. [Totally infuriating the vicious, rotten, Scalia in the occasional processes].

[Scalia has his name on a law school, courtesy of an anonymous, huge donor - and besmirching further the name of George Mason University; and especially of good Bill of Rights guy, George Mason].

Because cognitively they don't get that far. Just like how they didn't get that they'd need a working plan after repealing the ACA. They have no real governing abilities nor long term strategy about anything.

is that we can delay Chump's SCOTUS nominee vote until after the midterms, when we take back the Senate and block that sucker's choices until a Dem president is elected. McConnell made that tactic acceptable after all.
