(92,155 posts)Senate is a long shot for the Democrats, but if the Democrats were able to regain both Houses somehow, that would be the best possible scenario.
If that happened all kinds of opportunities exist, the most important would be regarding the appointment of judges, and I would say there is a 50-50 chance that Kennedy's seat would remain vacant until 2020 because it is unlikely that the fearless leader will appoint someone who is qualified
Mueller's investigation also needs to complete to determine the feasibility of impeachment.

(56,828 posts)Even if Democrats pull off a miracle and retake the senate and raise holy hell about it... I think tradition says that they should wait, but Mitch has been pissing on tradition for years, and Trump doesn't even know what are traditions and what are not.

(15,278 posts)Supreme Court year, that person has to be seated by Oct 1st. That's why the Rs are rushing the confirmation vote, to get it done by that deadline.

(52,200 posts)If they're about to lose the senate, of course they will try to ram through all the nominations they can, including a justice if need be.
If they know they're losing the majority, that might make them united to confirm just about anyone right-wing.
