Why did Trump call himself a "stable genius"?
As I recall, there were questions about his stability and his competency even before he took office. When his National Security Advisor, with all the nation's secrets, was overheard talking secretly to the Russians, he was approached by the FBI. He lied about it to the FBI.
Yet, the intrigue grew exponentially as Flynn continued in his job, even after Sally Yates informed the White House of the problem. It took Trump and Republicans almost three weeks to ask for his resignation.
All the while, Rex Tillerson was decimating the State Department, mostly thru attrition. They left unfilled many important positions, such as the Ambassador to South Korea and other strategic positions.
The Russians kept appearing in secret meetings with the Trump Administration as Kushner and Erik Prince were attempting to set up a secret line of communication with Vladimir Putin.
When he fired James Comey, Republicans agreed with Democrats that there needed to be a Special Counsel to investigate the matter. Jeff Sessions, the Attorney General was forced to recuse himself from the investigation and his deputy, Rod Rosenstein was put in charge of the investigation.
It became so serious that Trump reportedly took a physical that included his mental capacity for the job. Trump felt so burdened by the issue that he declared himself a "stable genius".
So the debate about the 25th Amendment and other remedies to an unqualified and incompetent, and likely criminal, President was very much in the news. We should not forget what the country has gone thru in the last year and a half.
