(9,291 posts)Might want to call cable news media. They just have talking heads on about things no one knows.
Including the cable news.

(2,387 posts)Montgomery County Police tell CNN that no one has come forward to us. No one has contacted us at all regarding Brett Kavanaugh.
Here's the statement from police:
At this time, the Montgomery County Police Department has not received a request by any alleged victim nor a victims attorney to initiate a police report or a criminal investigation regarding Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
The Department recognizes that victims of sexual assault may not want to involve law enforcement and/or initiate a criminal investigation, and we respect that position. The Department, however, stands prepared to assist anyone who reports being the victim of a sexual assault.
Typically, in a sexual assault case, the cooperation of the victim or witnesses is necessary. As with any criminal investigation, a determination must be made as to the jurisdiction where the alleged offense occurred and the specific details of the event to establish a potential criminal charge.
Our Department is ready to investigate any claim of sexual assault that is alleged to have occurred within our County.

(10,553 posts)The tweet says a new victim has been in contact with the police, the statement from MD police does not address if someone came forward, only that they have not been instructed to investigate (which if not a domestic violence case is usually up to the victim).

(429 posts)That's a weird statement. Oddly specific. No victims lawyer?

(10,553 posts)They don't release details of abuse until charges are pressed and the victim okays it (with some variations if the abuse is domestic). This does not say they are working with someone, it states no-one has asked yet for an investigation. The two items are not mutually exclusive.

(11,088 posts)Definitely raises the stakes for republicans because if he is indicted as a scotus and dems have control of the senate, then ramming kavanaugh through may ultimately cost them control of scotus as opposed to nominating another conservative or moderate conservative that can breeze through the process before january. Merrick Garland could be their best bet at this point ironically enough because he is a moderate and would surely get a quick confirmation.
