(3,259 posts)Comments like that are what have always bothered me about this guy. He has a client. A victim. Yet it's about him delivering. If his client decides to act, is is her who will be delivering.
Avenatti has been a serious thorn in Trumps side. I'm loving it. He is still a bull-dog alpha male with an ego the size of Texas.
After looking I see the "deliver" text predates the "Warning" text.
What is #Basta? Thanks.

His comment is also a clear signal that he is not full of hot gas, like the folks who defend Kav.
His record so far supports that he delivers on substance.

(2,166 posts)I really want to believe him, but because of exaggerations, I'm inclined to think he's all hat and no cattle. I really hope I'm wrong.

(11,841 posts)Avenatti fits that bill.
And I still say he'll have his own TV show when all is said and done.

(8,445 posts)I don't think he's exaggerating. I think it's more likely that he's methodically building an arsenal and holding things/information until needed.

(6,831 posts)He HAS delivered every time. Thing about crim law is that you have to be confident and aggressive to succeed. It doesn't mean that you must have an over-sized ego (Because that will get you into trouble sooner or later if that's all you've got.), or be a podium-pounder (That gets tedious after a while.), or a belligerent bully (which can get you in trouble with a judge AND the jury), but you have to believe in your ability to get the verdict.
In Avenatti's case, the man does his homework, crossing all those Ts and dotting those Is before he speaks publicly.

90% of other attorneys would flounder or make a deal to close the case.

(3,259 posts)"Flounder" isn't really a good word for that aspect of the profession.
I haven't seen enough of Avenatti to know if he delivers the goods. I'm sure he is a high caliber attorney with a good record.
I don't think my comments about him above are off, even if yours are completely accurate.

He not only showboats to get seen, but makes claims that are later backed up.
I guess, if you're good at your craft, a highly inflated ego follows. It's that ego that gets the attention.
Unlike Trump's ego, which is all bluster and bullshit, Avannati's is based in fact.

(53,061 posts)he is a legitimate top drawer litigator.
Mark Burnett and Donald Trump stole the idea of the "Apprentice" from a producer who had registered the concept and went to Burnett for funding. Burnett told him it didn't have a chance and took the idea to Trump.
from Avenatti's wiki:
settled an idea-theft lawsuit relating to the show The Apprentice and against producers Mark Burnett and Donald Trump,[31] and a $40 million embezzlement lawsuit involving KPMG.[9][32]
In 2007, Avenatti formed the law firm Eagan Avenatti, LLP (formerly known as Eagan O'Malley & Avenatti, LLP) with offices in Newport Beach, Los Angeles and San Francisco, California. He has since appeared on 60 Minutes three times in connection with cases he has handled.[3][33][34] Avenatti has also served as lead counsel on a number of historically large cases, including an April 2017 $454 million verdict after a jury trial in Federal Court in Los Angeles in a fraud case against Kimberly-Clark and Halyard Health,[35] later reduced to a $21.7 million verdict upon appeal,[36] an $80.5 million class-action settlement against Service Corporation International,[37] a $41 million jury verdict against KPMG,[38] and a $39 million malicious prosecution settlement.[39]

Avenatti later joined Greene Broillet & Wheeler, a Los Angeles boutique law firm. While there, he handled a number of high-profile cases, including a $10 million defamation case against Paris Hilton,[30] settled an idea-theft lawsuit relating to the show The Apprentice and against producers Mark Burnett and Donald Trump,[31] and a $40 million embezzlement lawsuit involving KPMG.
That's on his Wiki entry.

(81,192 posts)But he does deliver, gotta say.
I'd want him defending me if I ever needed a law shark.
I actually like the bravado. It's such a welcome change from our previously anemic Dems from even just a short while back. They were the gang that not only couldn't shoot straight, they didn't even bother to bring guns to the gunfight. Would rather be armed with feather dusters and wet noodles.
We need a fighter. One with some swagger. We've needed someone like him for a long time!

(3,259 posts)He is not someone I could have representing me unless I found myself in a very specific set of circumstances. My past dealings with court had absolutely no need for publicity or a lightning rod. Just the opposite. He does appear to be good at what he does. He is also extremely good at self promotion.
I think Harry Reid and Pelosi are stronger fighters than you give them credit for. Oops.... Did I leave Schumer out? I wouldn't address the whole party and it's leadership using the words you did. I don't disagree with you in total when you say "feather dusters" and "wet noodles". Can I say Garland? That should have been war from day one.

(81,192 posts)Just recently he GAVE McConnell 15 free nominations to further pack the lower courts. GAVE 'EM OVER. In some purported "deal" for later on which you KNOW McConnell will never make good.
Pelosi IS a pretty shrewd manager and "cat-herder". She NEVER allowed any bill to come to a floor vote if she knew it might not have the votes to pass. John Boehner got rolled all the time. She really kept her caucus in line. HOWEVER, the big black mark on her ledger with me is "impeachment's off the table" during bush/cheney.
I'm tempted to guess I'm older than you are. I'm 65. I've seen YEARS of "we've gotta be nice." DECADES of it. I'm BEYOND tired of it and fed up with it. I'm just WAY FAR beyond it now. I love Michelle Obama like a sister who I feel she is, in a way. But I am NOT going along with the "when they go low, we go high." Because all that does is take you straight over a cliff. Certainly that's so in politics. Nice guys finish last. We've gotta STOP being so naive about the CONS. They're no good, and they're up to no good. We've responded and reacted, for years, and for years, we've gotten rolled. Stomped on. Elections stolen from us. We've been naive. "When they go low, we go high" only works when you've got two opposing entities that play by the same rules, and agree to play fair, and keep it all above board. Not possible when you have one political party grooming all kinds of nogoodniks, early, like in the College Republicans groups. People like kkkarl rove, and yes, Brett Kavanaugh. Learning from one major master of the dark arts, the late and NOT lamented Lee Atwater. Lee Atwater was the father of many of these operatives. He nurtured them and taught them and inspired them to all kinds of dirty tricks. He really fucked Michael Dukakis over. So thoroughly and disgracefully that, when he was dying of cancer, he asked Dukakis to come to his bedside so he could ask Dukakis for forgiveness. I guess feeling the cold breath of the Grim Reaper on his shoulders finally moved him to some level of change-of-heart.
If I'm gonna have to go to a proverbial political gunfight, I wouldn't want to bring any feather duster or butter knife. I'd opt for the 82nd Airborne. With nukes. AND Michael Avenatti!

With Cohen he was very specific about other women and more tapes.
He really isn't trying to get to surprise them he's giving them a chance to get out of the way of the car speeding at them.
