Question: Can Flake Take Down Kavanaugh in Committee?

Does anyone know if the Senate Judiciary Committee has to recommend favorably for Kavanaugh for it to go to the full Senate, or not? That is, if Flake (who is a member of the Committee) votes against, as did all the Dems, would it stop there by virtue of an 11-10 "against" vote? Or could it still proceed to the full Senate despite such a committee vote? Thank you.

2. No. They can vote a No Recommendation or Unfavorable Recomendation and it will still go to Senate.

Clarence Thomas received a "No Recommendation" and Robert Bork received an "Unfavorable Recommendation" and both got Senate votes.

If either of them tells McConnell they will vote no, he will tell Kavanaugh to withdraw rather than go through with the vote.

prefer a "NO" vote than a failure to vote at all.

7. You might be right, but he doesn't like to hold votes he knows he will lose

It makes him look weak. But if Kavanaugh withdraws, it's not his fault and then getting another conservative justice will be a campaign issue.
