Rape, harassment, intimidation is ok for sex. Why would any women ever agree with this message and vote for them.

You have NO say in it, whatsoever. Besides, it's YOUR fault anyway.

In such a scenario, if there's a pregnancy carried to term, that grants the perpetrator a LIFETIME of domination over you.

She'd be shackled to her rapist for the rest of their lives. There could indeed be a chance - a strong chance - that the rapist would not only demand visitation rights, but some form of custody. And she'd be battling with him in the courts, in the social services, the works. It would be non-stop anguish.

Or the rapist could just disappear, and that STILL would leave her fully obligated to that child, unless she decides to put the baby up for adoption. Even then, though, the hurt, the degrading, the shaming, the psychological ramifications, the regret, the constant questioning of herself - DID SHE really bring this on? IS she the victim, or the predator? Yep, THAT'S what she'd face from judgmental outside observers everywhere. And heaven forbid she would need to seek public assistance. When these so-called "right to life" people also want their taxes cut, so they're more than happy to push for cuts in social services to needy people, families, and single heads-of-household.

This just sucks on SO MANY levels.

To the CON-world, that's seems to be pretty much the prevailing opinion.

And I say that as a mother of two. But I am NOT merely a container. And that's not my sole purpose for being on earth. Evidently, there are many men who would disagree. Including the "just lie back and enjoy it!" crowd.

Because today's County Commissioner could well be governor in ten years. And from governor, who knows how high one could climb? And EVERY election, there are issues to decide that affect LOTS of your fellow citizens, neighbors, friends, family, even you yourself.

Too busy to vote? It wasn't that important? Didn't feel like it? Didn't mark it on your calendar so you could arrange to go vote? You couldn't even send in an absentee ballot in advance, while you still had some time? I'm sorry, but fuck you!
People deciding that they're too pure and principled to vote for the lesser of two evils, are out of their freakin' minds!
People yowling that "both sides are the same!" and "there's no use, my vote won't matter" have their heads up their asses.

They're the same people who I bet will turn around one fine day and freak out at the way things are going, the backwards and upside down direction our country is lurching into, and what's been allowed to happen.

Like what we're living through right now, for example.
