4. Before we look stupid, keep in mind that these results pre-date the deal with Kaepernick

Nike's "first quarter" results reported here are through August 31, 2018. The deal with Kaepernick was announced September 3, 2018.

Now, the fact that Nike's stock price has been rising throughout September is evidence that the deal didn't hurt the company. But these results are not evidence of anything having to do with the deal with Kaepernick.
