3. Democrats are going to have a choice: admit that the idea of it being a noble institution

is now a myth (and has been certainly since the Merrick Garland episode) and will be forever more because that is how the GOP reliably operates in our lifetimes, or pretend that the noble institution can be reinstated even though we must suffer a generation of harm before we have even a chance of clawing back this idealized entity.

To me the choice is clear. SCOTUS has been torn from it's pedestal and cast into the gutter by the GOP. Wake up and accept that, and fight back with whatever tactics the GOP would use if the positions were reversed.

I think if the Dems take the House, Senate, and White House in 2020, they should strongly consider packing SCOTUS by adding 2 or even 4 seats, even if they have to nuke the legislative filibuster to accomplish it. And apolitical, impartial judiciary is a lie, and has been for a long time. Look at the Federalist Society.

Also, don't use the term "packing". Democrats should "adjust" the court to reflect the times we are in.

8. America, as we understand it, will change dramatically

I'm tearful for all of us being dragged back to the bad old days.

Trump gave license to the racists, his hard core base. So far, a few have changed some lives forever for the worse. Now all of us will know what minority peoples have been trying to tell us for our whole lives.
